DONNA MARIE BOWEN DIED 9/11.PENTAGON

In Memory...

Donna Marie Bowen was born in Omaha, Nebraska but grew up in Massachusetts and was a huge Red Sox fan.She was married to Eugene Bowen and had three beautiful children, Alexander who was 10, Eugene Jr.8, and Anastasia 6. She was step-mother to Cortney 19, and Erika 21. Donna was the leader of a Girl Scout troop for over 4 years. She taught catechism every Sunday at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, which the family attended.Every Wednesday Donna would leave work early so she could volunteer in her children's class rooms at Berry Elementary School in Waldorf.Donna worked for 23 years as a Rep for Verizon and its predecessor, C&P Phone. In the last 3 years she was a contractor to the Pentagon, where she worked at Army Accountant.
These are facts about Donna Marie Bowen. But they don't tell you about the heart of Donna..and I can't either..but I can tell you what I see and feel in my heart when I read about Donna and her family...She loved and was loved..Not just by her children, and husband and the rest of her family..but by her friends, her co-workers and all the people who's lives she touched in her daily life..This is a woman who loved children and gave of herself to them..She was a wonderful wife and an adoring mother...She should be here today to continue her life with her family..who miss her greatly each and every day..She should be here to tuck them in at night, to kiss them awake in the morning..to be a helpmate to her husband..to go on with her life like she expected to do every day...Donna was taken from her family that day..snatched away from them without a chance to say good-bye or tell her how much they loved her and needed her and would miss her every day of the rest of their life..I see no better example that life is not fair..than the death of Donna Marie Bowen.
I never got to meet you Donna but some day maybe I will be able to meet your children and tell them how much your life has touched mine...

My heart still hurts...such a tragic and senseless loss.

The best way we can all honor the memories of those lost, loving, and loved is to breed more love. Try to erase any hate you feel towards others--they know not what they did, what they do, or what they will do.

This is a beautiful tribute Jackie Sue .. it is just so very sad that you had to write it. It sounds as if Donna was a remarkable woman who was very much loved and missed.

That is beautiful Jackie Sue. Thank you.

I've been trying to decide what to write on my own blog ((granny).

It's just odd that the sheer number of people who died that day,in itself,is not as sobering as the life of one individual.Beautiful post.

Beautiful.

I was just talking about that hell day with Edie this morning. We recounted where we were...what was happening...who we knew.

It's amazing how so many people knew someone either in the Pentagon, the WTC, or Flight 93. Such a shame.
