MEMORIAL DAY HONOREE

Daddy about 1943, think this was at Blytheville, Arkansas.
Me and Daddy. I was about 15. He was about 40. When we first moved into Kelly Homes, every one thought I was his new second wife..freaked both of us out.

Me, Daddy, David and Tom in Roswell, New Mexico. I was around 25 or so..Daddy fought in France and Germany. To show you were I get my sense of humor...when Daddy and his troops got to Paris, he sent a letter to his mother lamenting 'war is hell, by the time we got to Paris, the Germans had drank all the wine.'..

Thank you Daddy for all your years of serive to your country.

You know, when I went to Europe with my dad when I was about 21, folks thought I was his second wife too.

As I recall, your dad was a big support during your troubles in Arizona.

I love your stories, Jackie Sue.

Memorial Day always moves me to tears. There were, and still are, so many great people who stand up for everyone.

May we never forget what they gave for us.

Like father like daughter...

I hope your father got some of the best french wine eventually - he certainy deserved it.

You being really precocious - its no wonder you had every one thinking you were wife number 2. :)

Thank God for the veterans...especially the ones who went off to war and never made it back to talk about it.

We owe your dad and my Uncle Floyd and Uncle Harry so much for their years of service.

That is such a great picture of you and your dad. You are drop dead gorgeous!

thanks every body..yup, i was a daddy's girl...like the old song..delta dawn..40 years old and daddy still called me baby..he never ever spoke about the war..made jokes about it like no wine, but refused to discuss it at all..
my uncle jack(the one i was named after) was at pearl harbor when the japanese attacked, the only thing he ever said was he never ate eggs again after the attack, from seeing all the blood all over the tables and floors and in the food..my uncle joe and bob also served...a real band of brothers.

Nice post. Both my grandpas were in WWII. My dad was an infantry officer during Vietnam, but it ended just before he was due to go over.

I love seeing the old pics.
