DAM NEWS ...and stuff

Just how stupid are people...pretty fecking stupid it looks like..click on this and it will be large enough for you to read..but don't eat it, it's hazardous to your health.

The Farmers Market finally opened this Saturday. It was just 4 vendors... It looked so pitiful..Some of them had some good stuff. The Nors Farm in Abbott has raw milk, free range eggs, and all kinds of meat from cattle and pigs. But damn, very expensive..Raw milk is $7 a gallon. Sausage is $4 a lb. Ground beef $4 a lb. Various kinds of steaks were $10 a lb. and eggs were $4 a doz. Another guy had them too and they were $2.50 a dozen..One vendor had beets, potatoes, blackberries, plums, peaches etc. but they were very small and think he picked them too soon..looked green. I did get a small sack of black berries for $4 and they were ok..but not great. They had lots of preserves and pickles. He said he would have some cucumbers next week and some dill too. Maybe I will make my own pickles. I think each week there will be more and more. I also went to a couple of used shit sales.(garage sales)..I got some videos..Monty Python and the Holy Grail for .25. and one of the Harry Potter movies for .25 too. Got a big porch urn(black) for $1...and some other odds and ends. No books...

I have been in Family Dollar almost every day for one thing or another..Inky said he missed me telling him the adventures of my readers and wanted to know what was going on with you all and did you guys miss hearing about him..ha..I said I was sure they were wondering what he had been up to. He was telling me about all the problems he is having with his step-kids..One got picked up for defending his younger brother, not thinking anything about punching the kid..The kid is 16 Inky's step-son is 17 and they took his ass to jail..So when I saw him in the bank I asked him if he was borrowing money to get him out and he laughed so hard ..yeah, I didn't think so.

Babs has been suffering from allergies and I made her some chicken soup and the stuffing part of a chicken pot pie for her. She likes to take it and put it on macaroni or rice. When I take it over to her I will borrow her camera so I can take the 'people of West' pictures for you...Seems like there was something else I was going to bring to your attention..but can't remember what it was. Ok...I'm out of here...have to go take Babs chicken shit to her...hope you had a great weekend..
At five minutes and six seconds after 4:00 AM on the 8th of July this year, the time and date will be 04:05:06 07/08/09.

It's legal to sell raw milk in Texas?

I haven't even been to the Farmer's Market in downtown Minneapolis this year. There are dozens of vendors, but yeah, their stuff is sort of expensive and I'm not sure if it's really organic.

"Used shit sales" is about the size of it. My buddy Dave at work calls them "garbage sales"...Fkn awesome!

I hope your friend Babs feels better today.

And thanks for the heads up on the nitty gritty pictures - they are fantastic!

The State of Pennsylvania has cracked down on raw milk. The Amish were selling it and I don't know what the crack down is about.

what is raw milk? Is it when it just comes out of the cow? haha I dunno that sounds stupid when I look at what I just wrote; but really I have never heard of raw milk.

Labels are funny...I'm sure they were in response to lawsuits.

Fresh eggs here in OKC are $1.25. Of course, we know the guy who has the chickens and you have to go in there and fight with the chickens to get the eggs. It's pretty entertaining.

Our Farmer's market is finally starting to look good....lots of veggies and starters. I am going to email you some video titles and see if you want them....I can't bring myself to give them to the Library and I would love for you to have them if the titles are good.

Pretty cool! Thanks. I don't do the numerology stuff, but I am interested in odd numerical alignments.

We have a couple "Farmers Markets" in the area but their stuff is somewhere between pathetic and awful.

I'm an old farm boy. I was milking cows when I was ten. ALL we had to drink, was "raw milk!" Our eggs went from the hen house to the frying pan, our pigs donated the bacon every year, and one of our cattle would donate the beef for the upcoming year. We ate like Kings!!

It just cracks me up when I hear "raw milk." What that really means is milk as it was meant to be, before the government and the business lobbies F'd it up!

I love farmer's market season! But, yeah, that organic/free-range/all natural stuff is SOOOO expensive. Seems wrong, doesn't it? Stuff from cows and pigs and chickens doing what they're supposed to do shouldn't be pricer. I know it's all about scale of production, etc, but still. Sigh.

but I have five kinds of heirloom tomatoes and a new kind of tiny sweet red pepper in my vege bed, and rhubarb and strawberries in my "pie patch." So that's a start toward my own little victory garden!

debra:i thought it was pretty intersting myownself.
nan:yup
heidi:i think this free ranch high prices is for the birds...why pay that much more for eggs from chicken that are running around in your yard?..
ted:yup..used shit is what it is.
intense:she's plagued by allergies and the wind is stirring up all kinds of crap..my eyes have been watering for weeks and nose runs all the time..central texas is where allergies breed as we are in sort of a valley with all sorts of different winds coming from every direction.
isn't nitty gritty great? i've been looking at his pictures for about 6 years..never disappointed. he does some great esbuilding shots.
raspootin:yup..just ole cows milk..with no pasturiation.Tastes like milk i drank as a kid.
i like to get it and make butter..something bad always happens ..ha
joy:i think our retirement complex should allow us to have a chicken coup...we have all kinds of room..
rosemary;after i watch them..can i donate to our library?
sage:had a flat tire and waiting for tanner to come fix it..will start taking pictures .
future:isn't that the truth..raw milk?...just milk..
elizabeth:my tomatoes are soso but my lettuce is kicking ass...squash isn't doing anything but throwing out blossoms...no bees and thats why i get no squash.

When I was a kid we ate everything from the market and didn't even wash much of it. Is everyone shitting on their farms now or what?
I think you miss working at Family Dollar. I use the one behind where I live and think of you when I visit them.
That pop-pie sounds good on rice thats the way I like it with some big hunks of chicken. Get thee better eating the chicken soup!
