GUNG HOW FAT CHOY

The happy residents..They all look like they're going to stand before the firing squad...and this is Miss Happy. She kept 'forgetting' how many won-tons she actually had. "I had 2 she says."...yup..2 from me, 2 from Suzanne, 2 from Jamie. Ha..She didn't want to try the egg drop soup, but I said try it and if you don't like it you can go around telling every one I made you eat that nasty ole Egg Drop soup....she tried it and liked it and think she was disappointed she couldn't bitch ..

Jamie ..my granddaughter who was so much help. When I was making the egg drop soup, I was freaking out as I had never made it before and had no idea what the hell I was doing. If you do it wrong, you get rubbery eggs or scrambled eggs. I poured the eggs over a fork and she stirred..Came out perfect. It was really really good.Fresh ginger really made a difference.

Suzanne brought a huge box of fortune cookies, the chop sticks and down loaded some Chinese music for atmosphere. It was way cool.
Louis was disappointed we didn't have Chinese assholes stuffed with rice.
That's him right below the picture of the fortune cookies. Suzanne said by getting so many of the fortune cookies they could keep opening them till they found the one they liked.

Me and Joe..he's a diabetic too, and loves to eat, and hates it when we only let him eat a little bit.
Everyone had a ticket and we had a drawing and the rabbit up front was the gift.
Lets see... I made pork stuffed won-tons, cream cheese/pineapple stuffed won-tons, egg drop soup, rice I(which really came out good..surprise surprise) oranges. Oranges are for good luck..and I made the won-tons look like little purses so it would bring money luck.
Every one raved over it and people kept coming in after we had served everyone..the aroma of the egg drop soup was really bringing them in. I'm very very happy with the way it came out..It kicked out ass..think Suzanne went home and is doing some couch time too. She is amazing. ..really..at her own expense she paid for the fortune cookies and chopsticks.. She helped serve, clean up..and Jamie was my little slave..I am very happy at how it all came out..
Next month I'm making home made pizzas and serving beer. Suzanne is going to make teramesu.(Spelling)and will down load some Sinatra and Dean Martin music for atmosphere.
We may not be able to serve real beer, but think we can get a way with non-alcoholic Beer. Like the one lady said ..'you can't have pizza without beer.'...
Now? I'm off for a nap..my ass is dragging...but I feel pretty damn good too...

It sounds FABULOUS! Wonderful, tasty food. Lots of new year decorations. The rabbit door prize was a brilliant idea. Fortune cookies! Even Chinese music, for Goddess' sake! They'll be talking about this one for a long, long time, I'm sure. You and your dedicated helpers gave them a wonderful experience!

You are amazing YDG. Our internet is playing up and couldn't get all the photos. Will try again tomorrow, storms afoot here.
You really inspire me.
But most of 'em did look like they were going before the firing squad. LOL

I have to ask you something. Do you pay for all the supplies to make all this stuff for the residents? Or does it come out of some sort of entertainment budget? Just curious.

yellowdoggranny said...

they have an entertainment budget..the most I ever spent was $60 and that was for the tea party one and it was 2 in one so no one said anything..I usually spend $40-45
and kathy usually gets the decorations..

You do such nice things. I hope when its your turn at the old farts home (in maybe 50 years) someone takes good care of you, you deserve it.
