COLUMBUS DAY

this is a holiday that should not be a holiday..What's to celebrate?..He never even set foot on the Americas..and if you search all thru the history of this man..you'd be hard pressed to find him being born in Italy. So relax Italians, he isn't one of you and he didn't discover America.

Y'all should move Thanksgiving to today like us Canerdians, then you could have a real holiday in October! LOL! Plus, it spaces out Turkey Consumption Times better. :)

I saw on TV today a report about some guy in the US who wants to change this holiday to "Exploration Day" so the focus is off Columbus but still celebrates those who find new places and things.

I heard one suggestion - it be changed to Exploring Day! Makes sense to me. Any holiday is a good holiday - at least when I was working.

LOL! Love it!!!!!!!!! And yes, he only set foot on Hispaniola, which is DR and Haiti today. And within just a few years the entire race of Arawak Indians were extinct.

The whole thing was just a farce to appease Italian immigrants in the first place. I think we should change it to National Pizza Day!
