WEST, BY GODDESS, TEXAS NEWS

Before I start in on the West News, let me bring you up to date on my news. Jamie had fallen and broke her collar bone so couldn't work so I haven't been watching the baby..I'm going through missing  Great Granddaughter mode..sucks...but the good news is she starts back to work Sunday so Monday I'll have Abby back..hot damn. Wednesday I had a colonoscopy done...the less details of that the better..but let me tell you after I had it and they said you'll be gassy and fart a lot I had no idea what they meant..My first trip to the bathroom in the hospital, sounded like I had a bazooka in my ass. But the good news is Hillsboro Hospital has a great staff, from Dr to the nurses..they all rocked. I was in such good hands..
Oh, they found one small polyp and removed it and waiting for results, but no one seemed to think it was a big deal..hope so..he actually said for my age, he expected more of them. So ? My ass is fine..so far.
This coming Saturday I'm going to be a volunteer at the West High School wrestling match. I will be helping at the concession stand from 1-4:30..something I've never done before..should be fun.
Inky and Anissa are leaving Saturday to go to Costa Rica for a paid vacation by Anissa's work..for a week. I don't think either one of them have been out of the country before and pretty sure Inky has never been on a plane..They are both so excited..It's been off and on nice or cold here for over a month and Inky said he didn't care what the weather was here(supposed to be in the 50's) he was wearing shorts and flip flops to fly there. I can't tell you how excited they are.
Oh..and speaking of vacations..my aunt who's husband just died recently is with her kids on that ocean liner in middle of ocean. The kids had talked her into going as she has never been on a cruise before ....so what happens? It catches fire and they're stranded in the middle of no where. I bet she is pissed.

Ok...West, by Goddess, Texas news now.

Bold Springs Baptist Church will be selling fish and shrimp dinners to raise money for the Church. Wish they'd have the hamburgers again.sigh*
West KJT 31 is sponsoring a fried fish dinner to benefit the Priest and Religious Retirement Fund.Starts at St.Mary's Parish Center and the cost is $8 a plate.

The West Kiwanis Club has scheduled their annual Stew and Chili Supper at the West Community Center. The meal consists of homemade chili and stew with all the trimmings. The price of the meal is $8 for adults and $4 for children. This is an all you can eat event. There will also be a silent auction on vintage street signs from the City of West.
West is honoring the 1963 West Trojanettes basketball team after almost 50 years after capturing the State Class AA Championship. The Trojanettes were greeted with a standing ovation as they were introduced individually followed by a brief biography on each member present.
A reception followed and the team talked about their championship season while their win over the Little Cypress of Orange squad played on the video screen.
It was a big deal as they were the first to win a state title for West High School.

17 West area FFA and 4-H students qualified for the Sale of Champions last Friday at the McLennan County Junior  Livestock Show in the Extraco Events Center in Waco. The West group sold their animals for a combined total of approximately $63,500. And yes, Mrs. Henrietta's grandsons and granddaughters were in the money. She'd be so proud.

Czech American Restaurant is having a Valentine's Day special..16 oz. sirloin for two for $16.95. Wild Bill's has a $1.50 Train Beers special..Every time a train goes by you can buy a beer for $1.50.

Nors Sausage and Burger House has a Lent Special..Plus for Valentines' they are having a New York Strip Steak and Shrimp Dinner for $16.99
 On February 24,
Nativity of the BVM Church Parish Hall in Penelope, Texas is having fried chicken and dressing dinner for $8 adult plate and $5 for children.

Dana Denton is engaged to Justin Ward..the couple will wed in a double ring ceremony at the First United Church of West on April 6.

Sigh* West Food Mart has Blue Bell Ice cream on sale for 2 1/2 gallons for $10...Eat your heart out all you Blue Bell lovers who can't get any of it..

New listing on a nice house..3 bedroom, 2 bath brick home, excellent condition, 2-car garage, nice backyard, 1415 Jane Lane for $139,900. Another new listing is a 4bdroom, 2.5 bath brick home on 1.5 acres. features large patio, over sized garage, in ground pool and bonus room above garage. NO Price quoted in paper.
So...as you can see, not much happening in West..but Baseball and softball season is coming and that's when all the action starts..I not only believe we're going to state again this year...I think the boys and the girls are gonna win it all.
Wish you all were here to enjoy all the good food..went through town today and could smell BBQ and almost drove the truck off the road trying to figure out where it was coming from. So good. Ya'll come down and see us...ya hea?

What bad luck for your Aunt on her first cruise! From the news reports, conditions on board seem horrible. But apparently everyone will have their full money refunded plus be offered another free cruise.

I've had a number of colonoscopies over the years. They give you nice drugs for it, don't they? And farting afterwards is the best part!

Your poor aunt! I hope this doesn't tarnish her idea of cruises or travel. Wow!

I love it when you update us about West. It sounds like such a charming place.
