THE LUNAR ECLIPSE

For a week Babs and I have been talking about going outside to see the lunar eclipse...Counting down the days..finally the big day comes and it's so cloudy out, you can't see a star more less the moon getting lunared..So we have pretty much decided that we weren't going to see much ...then Babs calls and said she saw a sliver of the moon right before the cloud covered it again..What the fuck...I'll go and see what I can see....Directly outside my apt. is the parking lot and to the right is the townhouse apts with a nice size field behind it..since Claudette's apt light is shining right in my eye, I decide to meander over to the field out of the light and try and find the moon...As most of you know I have a damaged nerve in my back which causes me to have slow motor skills in my right leg most of the time..When my brain tells my right leg to take a step, this is what it hears sometimes."briaceksleha;zzwllll999kllmwatchit mother fucker she's going down"...followed by "huh?"Followed by "ohhhhhhh fuck."...
I didn't actually fall down this time, but I'm sure that any one looking out their window would swear that Jackie is back on the sauce, as I know I looked like I was drunk out there, staggering around, looking up at the sky..Turning in circles with my hand up to block the damn light from Claudette's..
"What do you think she's doing out there?..." "Hell, I don't know...but I'm not going out there to find out. Remember the last time she was drunk?" "Please, I don't want to talk about it."..."Should have known not to talk smack about the Cowboys. You still have the scar from that?" "I SAID I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT."
I never did see the damn moon...But my reputation is still intact.

  1. Too cloudy here too.
I do my staggering around, looking up at the sky behind the privacy fence, the neighborhood association built it for me.

  3. I stood in the driveway with my youngest and we watched it in the pure darkness that living in the country offers. Then some stunned cow is out walking her dog and that fucking thing comes out of nowhere and jumps up on me! It was a golden retriever and I almost crapped down my own leg since I thought that hell had released the hounds and there would be more coming after me.

Phew. Being a stargazer is tough stuff eh?

  4. You would not believe it, but I was flying home tonight and the pilot said, "out the left side of the airplane we have a treat for everyone." and sure enough we got a bird's eye view (literally) of the eclipse. It was pretty awesome I was lucky I was on the left side too. When ever I am flying and they say something like oh look to your right you can see Mount Fucking kalmadamadingdong..sure enough I am on the wrong fucking side. But not tonight.

  5. Not a cloud in the sky here but I was working and it was 10 degrees outside so I pretended to forget about it.
    Frostbite is not my friend.
How come Babs wasn't there to hold you up? Might have been a pie in it for her. :)

  7. me and the science officer had a fabulous view of the eclipse. there were some wispy clouds drifting in front of the moon.

it would have been heaven to be sitting on the deck with a glass of scotch and a reefer.

    days gone by, sigh!!

  9. Hahahahahaa!!! I have sort of the same problem (a pinched sciatic nerve) that decides to knock me on my ass every once in a while. I'm sure people think I'm on the sauce when it happens, too!

The eclipse was gorgeous. I posted pictures!

  12. Soon the rumors will start of that wild woman doing weird things in a field during a lunar eclipse.

The folks in Eastwick...err...West don't like that sort of thing!

At least you'll be in good company!

  15. We had ice pellets coming down, but have seen a lot of neat pictures. Would have given a lot to see you out in the field. A bit looney maybe?

  16. Bah, It was too cloudy here to see it..

Ah well, next time I guess. I actually wanted to head out into the Glades and try to photograph it.

  17. I think they are boring an not worth watching. An eclipse of the sun is more interesting, it gets kind of spooky.

  18. would the person above be a contrarian?

  19. Ha ha. I'm glad you didn't fall down. At least you have a valid reason why you fall down. I seem to fall down for no reason at all in the most embarassing places (e.g., turning to get into a taxi in Vegas and down I went!; walking along Michigan Avenue in Chicago and oops, down I went!)

  20. We had a good view of it here too. I took my grandson out to see it. It went too slow for him. He wanted me to speed it up so we could go back inside.

  21. We had a good view of it here in the Music City burbs, but it was too fuckingcold to stay out more than 4.3 milliseconds...

Watch that stumbling around. Broken legs and hips take forever to heal.
