  1. Double fuck!I got home tis morning ad turned on my compute and there it was.
I have all his specials on DVD except the last two and watch his shows just as background noise when I work on the computer.
His web site is sorta strange too.

  2. I hadn't heard this news yet.

I will always remember him best as "Mr. Conductor" from the Thomas the Train videos that my son watched over and over (and over and over) when he was a toddler.

    Damn!

  3. It was the 1st thing I saw this morning and I was shocked. I loved him. He was truly one of a kind.

Sorry for my absence. Damn hard drive died.

  4. Depressing. Knew he had heart trouble because he mentioned it in his act occasionally, but this was still a shock.

  5. I always thought there would be one more special! Seems like he's always been there.

  6. George Carlin did more for the English language than Noah Webster ever thought about doing.

    RIP George Carlin

  10. He was the man in his day.

got a little schizzy nihilistic in his old age.

but in his prime, there was no one better. He had so many tools to his comedy. he was a genius wordsmith.

  11. Sweet, dear Mr. Conductor. What will Thomas the Tank Engine do without him?

  12. Another of the great ones gone. Far too few like him out there these days, and far too many hacks like Dane Cook.

  13. PLEASE tell me it's a lie.
    Pretty please...
    With sugar on it, even!
    This. Major. League. Sucks!!!

  14. I couldn't get You Tube to work all day yesterday, but for some reason, I was able to view this video of George Carlin today where he talks about how the working class/middle class is getting "screwed" by Republicans --at least, I assumed he was talking about Republicans! :) It's really very good.

  17. The man was truly a genius, for a crazy guy it always amazed me that he was often a lone voice of sanity.

  18. iz very sad. i remember watching him as a kid and my father being horrified that i found him funny. ~shrug~ to each his own. Another icon gone and no one to replace him.

  19. doralong:the lone voice crying in the wilderness...'your all fucked up and no one cares......'...
lakota:yupper..there will never be another one like him..that's what's really sad...

  20. It was the first thing I saw on line yesterday.

So sad.....he was a comic genius....

  21. I am insanely sad. The crop of amazing comedians is dropping to fucking nothing.

  22. I'm surprised you haven't heard of Dane Cook - he's a marginally funny comedian who plagiarizes a lot of his material from other comedians. Definitely not in Carlin's league, but he has a huge following for some reason. If you want to see some comedians who are at least cut from the same cloth as Carlin, I would recommend Patton Oswalt and David Cross, they're both hilarious.

  23. Dane Cook is marginally funny. His real talent lies in being really, really good at self-promotion. There are some good younger comics, but the truly smart, witty ones are few and far between. A huge chunk of Carlin's genius was that he didn't just make us laugh, he made us think.

  25. Nobody said it better.

Now it's up to you YDG :) You pull it off pretty damn well.

  26. He could see things from a different perspective than most.

  27. Fuck indeed.
He and Sam Kinison are putting together one hell of a comedy show for the rest of the departed.
