growing up in the AF they had a cough syrup and I don't remember what was in it..but we all called it GI Gin. I think it was 90 proof..now that was cough syrup..
My aunt prescribed a teaspoon of whiskey made thickened with sugar for a cough and fever. She also rubbed whiskey on the gums of her children when they were cutting teeth... the Ol'Buzzard
What an awesome post, Jackiesue! I could comment on almost every photo. Many were so thought-provoking. So I'll just say that I loved the Canadian jokes ~ especially that trap for catching Canadians! So funny! And I have to admit that some of our family barbecues were like the one in the photo! LOL! Oh yeah ~ I'm Canadian by birth, although I've lived in the US a long time. Canadians laugh at themselves very well! Thanks for the laughs!
you make my old heart full..I have to admit I'll look at some of them before I post them and think...oh Debra is going to love this..or this one is a great one for the old buzzard..hope his wife likes it too..and I am starting to think of the news one to me but old ones to the blog..my great new *(quite) friends in Arizona..you are the wind beneath my wings..snort*
I stopped at the "Breasts illegal" image. Apparently it is legal for women to walk around Maine topless. A few years ago, the was a topless parade through downtown Portland. Here's the Vimeo video.
As in the Queen video "Bicycle Races"...I agree...yikes! So many...of course the cough syrup.Ah, the good old days when drugs worked and we were allowed to have GOOD side effects,"Jesus loves me..." (Had never thought of that!). But hands down"Guess who kept everyone awake last night" ?!?!What a GREAT picture... says it all!
thanks for stopping by and saying howdy...Goddess bless your little sweethearts. Please be kind to each other while commenting..don't make me find you like a heat seeking missile and bip you into a coma..if you would like to talk to yellowdog..send to yellowdoggranny@yahoo.com.....
That "One Night Cough Syrup" looks perfect. They had all the cool things in the old days.
ReplyDeleteThey'd never sell something with alcohol, cannabis, and chloroform in it today, even in Colorado.
"The FDA won't approve it," they'd say.
"Your heart is going to shut down if you even get near it," they'd say.
I yearn for the days of One Night Cough Syrup.
I want some of that cough syrup.

ReplyDeleteHahahahahaha -- "Jesus loves me" means something different in Mexico! And the pregnant woman teaching sex ed is a good one too!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, you know I enjoy all the lesbian LOLs!
