As a result of a contention which has in the most part been the paramount issue in Texas politics for 42 years, about 1,500 saloons closed their doors last night. These institutions are closed in obedience to the ten mile zone law passed by the recent special session of the Texas Legislature. Tonight at 9:30 every town in Texas goes into the dry column. Besides those 1,500 saloons there remains about 1,100 saloons which must close their doors on June 26.
