WEST, TEXAS NEWS 9/15/2010
These are some pictures that made the paper today..thought you'd like to see them, and see that it wasn't just Czech dancers.
If you click on them you can read the caption. Plus the New Miss Westfest too.
Now..for this weeks news. This coming Saturday an equestrian Special Olympics is being held for the first time at the West Fair and Rodeo Grounds. It's sponsored by the Heart of Texas Therapeutic Riding Center in West, and will begin with the Parade of Athletes at 9 a.m. followed by several horse riding events. Showmanship, walk, trot, western horsemanship, poles, barrel racing and trail riding. Shirley W. of the riding center said this has been a dream of theirs for years and are all very excited about it finally happening. The Special Olympics will also include a performance by the Rhinestone Cowgirls of China Spring riding team performing during the lunch break and during the opening ceremony. This event is conducted in conjunction with the other Central Texas Special Olympics events usually held in May. This is the first time they are having the equestrian event but I'm sure it will be a hit and they'll have it every year.
On Sept. 7 we got 4.10 inches of rain and .63 of an inch on Sept. 9. We got 6.75 in June and 4.09 in January. So that makes 31.88 inches of rain. The high before that was in 2008 when we had 26.33 inches. Why does it seem like all we've had is heat, hot, heat, humidity and more heat.???
The West Volunteer Fire Department has scheduled a Truck and Tractor Pull for Sept. 24 and 25 at the pull tracks on the Westfest grounds. Dang, we're still having activities. Halloween we'll have Halloween Alley like we do every year and there will be free candy given from all sorts of booths over by the Depot, the Fire Department, the Police Station and my house.
The Grassroots Democrats are meeting Sept. 21 at the West Community Center at 7 p.m. I have already gotten my email invite. I may go this time. See if I can stay out of trouble.
Jennifer Renee Schier is engaged to David Randall Schussler,Jr. and will be married on Oct. 30th. Haley Caldwell married Douglas Psencik in San Antonio and will live in San Antonio.

James Hannes weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and 18 1/2 inches long. His brother Joseph weighed 6 pounds 4 ounces and 18.75 inches long. Dang that's over 12 pounds of baby..Danielle I tip my hat to you.
Ryder John celebrated his 1 year birthday. Billy and Betty just had their 65th birthday. KyleeNors just had her first birthday too.
The West Trojans are 0-3...crap crap crap. Lost to Groesbeck 21-18...sigh*
I don't care if it hairlips the governor.. I'm telling everyone here and now..we need a new coach. I know I'm going to piss off all the members of his family and let me tell you they are legion..and influential...but he only knows 3 plays...and I could do a better job giving me a weeks training and turn me loose..Don't know if we'd win more, but by Goddess, I'd use more than run to the left, run to the right and throw the fucking ball.
Lucky we have the girls Volleyball team..they're doing terrific.
50 years ago our St. Mary's cheerleaders were the first place winners in the Junior High Division of the Cheerleading School held at SMU.
West Kindergartners has 5 classes of less than 20 kids a class. St. Mary's has one class of 11 students. They are all smiling and happy and want to be in school. Give them 5 years. Ha.
West Lumber Company is closed and is now having it's final liquidation sale. 50-90% off everything. This is so sad to me. But Lowe's is about 14 miles down the road and they just couldn't compete.
West Food Mart has shoulder roast on sale for $1.99 a pound. I may get me some of that..Freeze it and save it for when it gets cooler(please Goddess make that soon..it's still in the mid 90's) and make stew out of it . Community Grocery has nectarines on sale for .89 a pound. Need to get me some more fruit. Oh...hmm, pork steak is $1.59 a pound...might pick me up a couple..That's what I like about West grocery stores. If you want one pork chop or 3 slices of bacon or one steak. You can get it.
Oh...my new friends Suzanne and Mike closed on their house on the 31st of August and they are living in their new home. I feel a certain amount of pride..They are great people and West is lucky to have them living here now. Even ole Nitty has found a house he is now referring to as 'his house'...Lets see if I can sell another home. Stunning 2-story home on 10+ acres. Custom built quality, spacious floor plan in this 3-BR, 2.5 bath beauty. Office with wet bar, isolated master BR with patio door, formal dining room, high ceilings, stone F/P, stainless steel appliances and 2 stairways that lead to large loft that could be 4th BR, second living area or game room. 6063 Heritage Pkwy. $279,000.
Ok... that's the West news..now for mine and Babs news...it's one of those good news bad news. The good news is, the apartments are sold. (although the papers still haven't been signed) They are going to completely renovate all of the apartments. The bad news is we all have to move out till they are fixed, supposedly one week. So ...we have to box up every fucking thing ....everything. Then the new owners will hire a moving company and move all of our shit to storage sheds they are supposed to rent for us and then we will stay in Super 8 Motel down by Baylor in Waco for a week. Which they will pay for too. First of all, some of these people are not in any shape to be moving their stuff and then turn around a week later and move it back in again. Second of all a lot of these old people get meals on wheels. How are they (me and Babs included) going to eat 3 meals a day for a week. None of us can afford that. (that question has no answer as of yet) Alice who lives next door to me opposite the breeze way just moved in in January and her kids had to help her and she has the worlds largest Elvis collection. (they were born on the same day, same year, and only minutes apart) I have 3 kabillion fucking books. I don't want to pack all this shit up and then do it all over again a week later. I don't want to live in a motel for a week. Babs is excited for that..she's already looking for a Pizza Hut phone number so she can get it delivered. Plus..what about our animals?..Did the new owners have a plan for our pets. And Charlotte won't let me have the phone number to call them, cause she knows I'll end up calling them assholes and dickheads among other choice names. Every one is running around in a dead panic. I say fuckem...They haven't even signed the papers yet. They're putting on new roofs, siding, windows, heaters etc. and figure they'll do that first and then once I know they've done that...I'll pack up my shit. Anyone want to put me up for a week..and that's another fucking thing. I've watched enough of those 'flip this house' episodes ...they say it's going to be done in 6 weeks and 3 fucking months later they're still standing around with half the work done. We're talking new floors, new trim, new kitchen cupboards, appliances, bathrooms, etc. for about 40 apartments? yeah, fuck that. I bet it takes them 3 weeks. Dexter is going to shit and make my life fucking miserable....sigh*...So...that's all the news fit to print. I'm going to West Rest Haven tomorrow for their little Westfest. I'll take plenty of pictures and Saturday I'm going to Kenna Jo-Ann's 1 year birthday party. Wow, can't believe she's a year already...I keep telling Jennifer I don't want to rush her on the great-grand baby but I'd like for it to be here before we both are in diapers.
