In case you never got a chance to see our world class swimming pool..here is the link to it..

http://www.west-tx.com/tour.asp, take a little tour of West, Texas, we're more than a blown up fertilizer plant.

http://www.westfest.com/
and of course our Westfest will go on as it has for the past 37 years.

http://local.yahoo.com/info-18955473 and of course the Pizza House of  West, Texas.

this one has a picture.

West High School seniors will graduate Friday..Ceremony will be at Ferrell Center in Waco. One hundred and thirteen of them..What a year it's been.Valedictorian is Zoe Rankin and salutatorian is Kara Kolar.
Everyone is very excited about our paper today..all the pictures are in color..it looks so cool and everyone thinks it's a big deal.

The Texas State Railroad shared a picture with the West News (I found some on line that are about the same) The RR tracks run right thru town and right by the fertilizer plant. The force of the explosion lifted one rail and shoved it all the way against the other and was fused in places. The  right rail was tiled up and pulled the spikes out of the plates on the side nearest to the explosion.

The CBR event was very successful the tractor sold for $12,000 and all the other money for the event will go to the fund for First Responders. They are having fund raisers all over the place. Mayor Tommy Muska and some of the city council went to Austin to talk to Gov Perry to get state money to redo all the water lines on North side of town, zones 1,2, 3.
The explosion not only took down over 150 houses it did a lot of damage to the old water pipes and mains. So it will all have to be redone before they can get all of the people back and to rebuild here. We already have one house going up and that is such a great sign.
Life is going on as usual here ....we had births, we had deaths, we had birthdays and anniversary's..
Texas Rangers are planning on a West Day. It will be on July 6 at the Ballpark in Arlington. The game will be against the Houston Astros and is set for 6:15 that day. The event is also to include special pre-game presentations and a pre-game picnic. The West Chamber of Commerce is helping coordinate this event which is to include free tickets for West Residents. In order to assure tickets for all of those wanting to go, they may pick up ticket requests forms at State National Bank, Point West Band and West Furniture Store and the West News. They may also contact John Kocian with the chamber at johnkocian@westhamberofcommere.com. The deadline for ticket requests is June 19. Currently, the tickets are expected to be available for pick up on June 29 at the Chambers Celebrate West even at the fairgrounds in the city. I am going to get tickets and go..Wouldn't miss it for anything. I haven't been to a Rangers game..haven't been to see the Cowboys since the 80's..

Residents are invited to KC Hall events. The women and children of the West community are invited to participate in a very special event from noon to 4 p.m. this Sunday at the KC Hall in West.

"This community based art project consist of painting wooden five point stars that will be placed on stakes and put in yards and business throughout the city.
All supplies are provided including paint, brushes, smocks, tarps, etc. The children are encouraged to paint uplifting messages, (.e. love, hope , rebuild) on their stars but originality and ownership are highly desired.

For event information contact Jamie Allnutt with the West Long Term Recovery Center at 254-415-8750 or jamiea@westltr.org.
While I was copying this from paper I had a thought....wonder if the nursing homes that have our residents would be able to take them if we got them tickets.??? I'm going to call and find out..that would be wonderful.

I also have some exciting news..I have shot my first bullet at the asses of  Texas Department of Transportation. News to follow..

You shouldn't shoot at those fellas, they might shoot back.
I saw that about the Texas Rangers game. I still can't get used to the idea of two American League teams in one state.

The first house going up, that should make everyone feel good. Good to hear that life is going on in West and that Granny continues to terrorize.

Don't they know who they're messing with? I pity the fools! Glad to see that life in West is still grand, in spite of the tragic events. May you all live long and prosper!
