congress hikes pay and then goes home for the holidays...
seems like the only thing the republican controlled congress could agree on was a $31,100 pay raise..this was right after they postponed final decisions on curbing spending on social programs and cutting taxes in favor of a 2 week vacation...the cost-of-living increase for members of congress will put them in the $165,200 a year mark...the republicans are celebrating a $50 billion spending cut...which will come from programs for the poor, medicare, student loans and other benefit programs...fuck me til i tango
