Yes, we had a 4 point something earthquake not too long ago here in Alberta due to fracking. Yes, in a province which typically never gets earthquakes.
I'm not convinced that poverty in earlier centuries was the result of "natural scarcity" either. Poverty has always resulted from upper classes hoarding all communally-created wealth for themselves and cheating the poor.
