legend of the blue bonnets

I love blue bonnets..my favorite part of the year is spring time when the blue bonnets are in bloom..when I spot the first patch of blue bonnets I'm fucking near ecstatic...'blue bonnets blue bonnets.'..the legend to the blue bonnets is way back before there were white interlopers in Texas there was a bad drought..no rain..and the local natives were in dire straits..they needed rain.so the legend goes that the native americans were all making sacrifices to the rain God so it would rain.one of the little girls sacrificed her one and only doll... and while her doll was burning she cried..and for every tear a blue bonnet grew.
there is a song..I think me and one other person remembers it..I learned it in the 3rd grade and still remember it.
Blue bonnets blue bonnets,
with your coats so blue,
your white eyes are shining
in the silvery dew.
I know your a dolly offered for the rain,
I know you'll come back again to Texas in the spring.
class is over children, now run out and play.
 what one looks like individually...

every kid in Texas has been dragged across dirt roads and fields to have their picture taken in the blue bonnets.

A beautiful legend about beautiful flowers! The only song I know about blue flowers is "The Bluebells of Scotland" which I learned as a kid.
