Powerful. As the mother of a firefighter/EMT, I type this through tears. What a testament to your community and the good people of West. Thank you for sharing, Jackiesue. Can’t believe it’s been 10 years.
Ten years already? Wow, I remember seeing the "breaking news" on CBC TV News like it was yesterday -- we were so worried about whether you were affected by the blast! Got an online map of West to see where your apartment was located vis-a-vis the fertilizer factory. Anxiously awaited a response to our email and so happy when it came! Thanks for providing the link to the "Rising from the Rubble" film -- will watch it tomorrow morning.
Jeri......it's hard to believe it's been 10 years. But daily we are reminded about how far we've come. The new schools, the new rest home, and 150plus new homes... can't keep a Czech down. Really proud of them. I'm friends with one lady who was married to one of the first responders. After a few years, she found love again. She has a beautiful little girl and her big brother has found a new dad. We're all healing. Yeah, I remember everyone reaching out to me. Seeing if I was ok. I remember there were over 3,000 people reading my blog that day when I finally responded. So many people were worried about our little town.

Time goes. Some memories never fade, even as others are healed. Hugs
