I HAVE A BLACK BELT IN SHOE SHOPPING

So, I went to Wakko....arghghgh!...Not even 10 miles down I-35 there was a traffic jam..there was a grass fire on side of the road and traffic was backed up from Elm Mott to West..it was a mess..so I said fuckit and got on frontage road and whipped right by them..till I got to where the fire was and had to get back on I-35...sigh*...Finally made it to my insurance office where I had them re-figure my policy and got over $20 reduction by going to another company...and lower payments..Then it was off to Marshall's...was going to go to Payless but I thought bullshit..Lane and I did great on getting shoes for a great price, so I'll go to Marshall's...which I can never remember how the fuck to get there, damn near had to drive to Austin to get turned around in the right direction to the store..My foot is shrinking back to normal size...hot damn..I kept trying on 7-71/2's as that is what I had been wearing..too big..too big...found some cute shoes but had to high of a heel...with my dead feet from pinched nerve I can't wear high heels any more..I'd fall on my ass faster than I used to when I drank...and you're not going to believe this..I found a pair of shoes with a tiny little heel, in the exact color as my top...and it was marked down(marked down like 5 times)...from $39.00 to ..........................$5 fucking dollars...yes, ladies and gents..$5....mother fucking dollars...They are EASY STREET...what ever the fuck that is or means...They hurt like hell as I haven't had my feet stuffed in anything other than tennis shoes and baby phats in for fucking ever...but they look so cute...little square toe with a gold thingy on it...leather and suede...I fucking rock!..$5....can you believe it?...$5.....So to celebrate I bought two books...ha...Low Carb meals in minutes and cooking for your dog...yes, I know..I don't have a dog, but it was only $3 and it might make a great Christmas present for some one....
While I was at that shopping center I thought I would check out A Million Books or something like that..hey, it's a book store..I walked in and all I could smell was the smell of new books....I walked over to the counter and said 'pinch me'...and the girl smiled and pinched me..I said..nope, I'm not dreaming...I'm in a real live bookstore...She and the guy behind the counter just giggled..I am so proud of myself..I only bought 2 books..One is Brethren by Robyn Young..about the Knights Templar(for some reason that subject intrigues me) for $3.97 and The Night Gardener by George Pelecanos...for $3.00(did I mention my shoes only cost $5?)..I popped for the membership card which was $10, but figure I will give it to Nancy so she can go get some cheap books for the Library as they have a ton of great books for up to 70% off...If I didn't have to go to the House of Satan and get Babs diet cherry coke and my key lime water, I would still be there..It's a good thing it's so far away or I'd be camped out there every Friday waving my Family Dollar check at them..I like it better than Barnes and Noble..
I'm posting some pictures...one is of the statue that Billy couldn't figure out what it was and what it was doing...I feel in love with this statue...I've had it for 25+years...it 'spoke' to me..and a picture of our Family Dollar, my drug store Old Corner Drug which naturally is on the corner, Wolfs Bar and Inky closing the back door at Wolf's..West Food Mart and a picture of my chicken fried steak...eat your hearts out...
(I did tell you about my $5 shoes didn't I...eggplant color, little heel, gold thingy on the toe?)
I have to go take my new bra off...my tits are chaffing the skin off my chin....

Books-A-Million really is a great store. Definitely worth the drive out to the Marketplace. I just don't like their coffee.

It's nothing like Book People in Austin though. Oh, what a bookstore!

I'm jealous of your CFS, in awe of your ability to only buy 2 books and amused by your statue. He's a keeper!

sling:maybe i should start refering to it as 'bush'...when babs scanned them into a email for me to down load she had titled this as statue with dick on head...the one where you can see i took the picture of old corner drug out of the truck window she called 'unsafe driving'....ha
brat:It smelled like burnt coffee and wasn't a good smell for me..i just love fecking book stores..
lic:i love them shoes..they could be ugly and i'd love them for $5, but they happen to be very pretty..the twins smile a lot at people now..
mrsb:i love the statue more than the $5 shoes...

sage:my feet were all swollen for so long from the diabetes and now that I have it under control..the swellings gone down..went' from 71/2 to 6 1/2...pretty cool..still not back to normal which was 5 1/2...but that's ok..

billy:oh i still wear them every day..even my baby phats..i love my tennie shoes..

like the old hushpuppies ad sed -- yer dawgs need to breathe. especially diabetic dawgs. wear shoes that let you wiggle yer toes (but don't go barefoot for obvious reasons, eh)

the mayan acrobat has got potential as an acrobong

the skies of texas are wide and pretty and unmistakable. west itself reminds me of the little farming towns of southern alabama. bet yall got a feed store

unokhan:yup, i've learned all the things i need to do for my footsies being a diabetic..but i will continue to go barefooted in the house..can't break 64 years of going barefooted..your the only one that commented on the clouds, which i had made a point to get as much of them in each picture as i could as it was a beautiful texas cloud day..
we have jupe mills and had feed, vet supplies and assorted other stuff..plants, seeds, and saddlery...

Your pictures make shopping look fun. I don't like to shop, but the old corner store and Wolf's look inviting. Too bad about that new bra..."release those boobs" as my Sweetie always tells me. OH, hon, YOU SCORED with those $5 shoes!

You inspired me to hit Marshall's this morning. Love that store. Never know what I'm going to find there, and the deals are amazing.

As for the statue -- although dick head seems appropriate, could it be a whale god? Is it Mayan?

Granny- I'll send you pics of my shoe shrine sometime and we can fight for the belt ;)

No pics of the Baptist Church burgers???

That last line has me cracking up. My wife has a shoe and purse fetish that I try to control. Heavy emphasis on try.

yes, i remember the texas sky well. i hitch-hiked across tx a long while ago and saw lots of it-- curiously individual clouds blue-marching overhead from one horizon to the other into infinity. if i'm not mistaken those clouds are featured on a freddie king album cover called 'texas cannonball'

$5?? Don't you love it when the shoe gods of shopping smile down on you. Followed by the book gods??

I'm torn between Books-a-Million and Barnes & Noble. The latter seems frumpier but does seem to attract more of my people.

If you haven't seen it...

unokhan:everyone should get to see the big blue skies of texas with them big ole fluffy clouds at least once in their life..i've been known to stop the truck and make everyone get out and look at the clouds..
jan:im telling you..i danced all the way to the register with my shoes clutched in my hands, like someone was going to snatch them from me..ha..
josh:i liked books a million better than barnes and nobles..i like the way the store is set out and the way the books are laid out..but it smelt like burnt coffee...
