POINTS OF INTEREST AND COOKING

It's close to 100 degrees outside and dumb-ass here baked a cherry/chocolate cake cobbler, and green chili turkey meat loaf...smack me someone..I decided to do a different version of the apple/vanilla cake cobbler with Carmel sauce...I took 3 can's of comstock cherry pie mix put in a large glass lasagna dish, dumped a box of chocolate cake mix, stick of butter with some water and mixed it all together....drizzled some canned Hershey's chocolate sauce over it and baked it for 3-40 minutes..then when it cooled a little I added more chocolate sauce on top...sigh*......yup...it's good..

Then I took 3 lbs of ground turkey, salt, pepper, eggs, and green chili salsa and mixed it all up and made 2 loaf pans of meat loaf..when it cooled off I added more green chili salsa over the top...yup...it's good..

in about 3 hours I'm going to make liver and onions for me and Inky...Babs said for me to keep it away from her..but would try some of the cherry/chocolate cobbler..

Last night Babs wanted to see if she could drive at night(hasn't been able to do any night driving here since she had her operation on her retina) to the House of Satan..I told her I would drive with her and if she couldn't do it, I would drive the rest of the way...Well, by Goddess, she did it..We were hoping the cops would stop us so we could say 'sorry officer, I'm half blind and didn't see you and she's half deaf and didn't hear the siren..'

Then we terrorized people in the store..There is something weird shopping at the House of Satan at midnight...surprisingly more people than you would have thought and all the aisles were crowded with stockers and their boxes..But...I found a 'Listen Up'...the hearing device you see advertised on TV, where you can hear people whispering across the street..It's really fucking weird...I can hear ok...which is terrific(got to watch 2 hours of season 2's Dexter last night, and I couldn't hear it at all earlier) but damn, I can hear me talking..it's like my head is miked...I can hear me chew, swallow, sniff, blowing my nose is really freaky..when I walk I can hear my footsteps, and when Annie was eating out of her glass bowl and her 2 tags were banging on the glass is was really really loud..It has a clip so I can clip it to my shirt at work...Don't know how it will work, but going to try...I can't wear it all the time here at the house as they sounds are so distracting. The noise the refrigerator makes is like having a John Deere tractor in the house..I almost made myself nuts when I had them on and was watching Dexter and eating pork rinds..gave me a head ache..and the rustling of the paper was very annoying..flushing the toilet was like having my head under water at Niagara falls..This will be a temporary stop gap until I get a regular hearing aid...it's really great for listening to video's on the computer and the TV...Babs kept saying 'can you hear me now, can you hear me now.................can you hear me now?'...

I have been cleaning the apt..22 years ago I paid $75 for a micro-wave ...the old dial kind..finally said fuck it and Babs and I hauled it out to the truck..will give it to Caritas. I love having all the space on the counter now..

I'm going to replant my okra into bigger pots..them suckers are growing like crazy..and my squash ...holy shit, my squash is full of blossoms..even my asparagus is growing...maybe I won't be a garden serial killer this year..

There was an article in the DAM news about Adamson High School which has a large Hispanic population.."We're doing pretty well if we can graduate 50 percent," says Marcia Niemann, on the high dropout rate of recent immigrants..They come here and inter school and they can't speak English, no one at home speaks English and because they flunk out and can't get jobs, a lot of them turn to gangs and crime..There is such a problem with the drop out rate brought on my immigrants that they are talking about closing down the school..Yeah, that's the answer...It's a huge problem here in Texas, and all the border states and California. Pretty soon Anglos will be the minority in Los Angeles and Dallas, and no one will be speaking English. I'm all for the melting pot theory for America....except they aren't melting..I see kids around 8-9 years old having to translate for Mom in the store..plus they take them to the Dr. to translate...Which I find really scary.."Jose, tell the Dr. that Mammi is bleeding very bad from her peepee."...Yeah, that's something an 8 year old shouldn't have to deal with..This happens a lot at the Drs. and I see it all the time in the store..I worried for 2 days or better when I tried to explain to a lady about puppy chow for her new puppy, how much to give it, how much water..etc...I never did know if she understood me and her kid who was translating didn't know how to say 1/2 cup 2 times a day...so I can only hope she figured it out..Sigh*..

Arghghg, Margaret just came over to return a library book she'd been reading..I gave her a couple of the paper backs I bought the other day and tried to escort her out the door...jeez, I'm standing there with the fucking door open for her to leave and she's babblying to me what a pain in the ass Mary is cause she keeps coming over or calling her and bothering her all the time..I wanted to say ..'like you are now?.'...but finally I said, 'I have to go I have something on the computer and if I don't go, I'll lose it..'...thank the Goddess she doesn't know anything about computers..Gave her some cherry/chocolate cobbler and slammed the door..I really don't like visitors..unless they're on my terms...Have to run..want to start cutting up the onions for the liver...wish you all were here, I make some kick ass liver and onions...fuckme till my eyes water.

Went out to eat with dad today - went to Pappadeaux and had a massive plate of fried shrimp, Good food, but expensive as hell. I'm definitely going to have to try this cherry/chocolate cake cobbler of yours.

It's all your fault! I have to be at work at 7:30 and I have to read about all this food before I go. I love liver and onions and meatloaf.
Between you and Babs you make one safe driver. If I yell real loud I wonder if you will be able to hear me.
Gotta go, I feel a stop at Wendy's on the way to work. I'm getting hooked on their nasty chicken wraps.
