WEST, BY GODDESS, TEXAS.. 15 inches

we're like the postmen..neither rain, nor sleet nor snow or dead of night keeps us from our appointed rounds..meals...were delivered.
yesterday was an interesting day..and not always in a good way. I didn't have to go and get Marie and Gene, there is no way they could have handled getting in and out of van in that rain..when I took my truck to city hall to get the van it had rained most of night but wasn't raining that bad..around 9:30...water was already starting to cover the tires of cars packed at city hall, When I got out of truck water was over my ankle..there is a deep curb going into side of city hall and water was a little over my ankle..but was coming down pretty good..but had my hoodie on and kept me sorta dry...I drove and Lana was my hopper so I stayed pretty dry...we were ok until we started back from Leroy...we were driving right into it..It was blowing and pouring bucketfuls right at us..nearly lost it a couple of times hydroplaning and wind kept whipping us off the road..road was already starting to flood but we were ahead of it..Got back to Community Center and had our lunch..and then went to swap van with my truck..holy shit..water was up 1/2 way over the tires..got out of van and water was up to mid calf..walked across street and water by curb was up to my crotch..had to move my phone out of my jeans pocket as it was in water ...I'm 5'4"..so you can get an idea how high the water was..and it was running hard ...almost lost my balance..so by time I got to city hall I was wet from head to toe and looked like I had jumped in swimming pool fully clothed..driving back I could see many flooded streets all along Reagan st. which is one of our main drags..Oak street being our main drag into town and Main Street runs along the railroad tracks..flooded corners, water covering the field that we use for parking for WestFest.. The apts set up on a little hill and when they did the construction on the apts 5 years or so ago they put in a drain on the parking lot, that really helps..but the apts below us are in a lower area and if this keeps up, could be in danger of flooding..hard to tell..it rained hard off and on all night but it's just sprinkling right now..but think we're supposed to get more today and tomorrow..I came home to no cable nor internet, so I did some cooking, put up laundry and finished my book..The Museum of Extraordinary Things . Which was a good book..woke up this morning at 7:30 and tada..tv and internet..will keep you updated..unless I lose internet again..

Hang in there. You are too short to be out in deep water - stay home - stay safe.

Good luck. We're getting it in Houston right now.

I'm hunkered in for the duration.
