.......GOOD JOB BUSHIE.......

These 2 articles on the state of our union tell a story of how A leads to B..
Poor Kids Are Majority At Public Schools In South.
For the first time in more than 40 years, the majority of children in public schools in the South are poor, according to a report being released.
Twenty years ago, Mississippi was the only state in the country with such a high percentage of poor public school students. Now,a majority of public school students are considered low-income
in 14 states, including 11 in the South, the report by the Southern Education Foundation said.
"Low-income students as a group begin school least ready," said Steve Suitts, a program coordinator with the Atlanta-based foundation."They are the students most likely to drop out of school."

The report found that 56 percent of Texas public school students were low-income in 2006, based on their eligibility for free or reduced school lunches. That's up from 49percent in 2000.
The report gives only state averages; the poverty levels in individual districts vary greatly.
In 2006, about 83 percent of students in the Dallas Independent School District were poor.
(from staff and wire reports)
So...since asshole took office more states have poor students and a larger percentage than before.
By region:
South:54%
West:47%
Northeast:36%
Midwest:36%
Nationally:46%
Here are a few states and their percentage:
Oklahoma:47%
New Mexico:62%
California:51%
Montana:36%
Colorado:36%
Louisiana:84%(thanks to Katrina and Bush's lack of help)
Oregon:50%
Is this scary or what?...Here we are supposedly the riches nation in the world and half the kids in school are living below the poverty level..fuckyou very much Bush..this happened while you were President...Good job Bush..good job..
This is what we think of you:
Poll Finds Unhappy Nation
One year before the 2008 election, Americans are deeply pessimistic and eager for a change in direction from the agenda and priorities of President Bush, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
Concern about the economy, the war in Iraq and growing dissatisfaction with the political environment in Washington all contribute to the lowest public assessment of the direction of the country in more than a decade. Just 24 percent think the nation is on the right track,(isn't that the people who work in the white house?)and three-quarters said they want the next president
to chart a course that is different than that pursued by Mr. Bush.(no shit Sherlock)
Overwhelmingly, Democrats want a new direction, but so do three-quarters of independents and even half of Republicans.
Some poll numbers:
Iraq:More than 6 in 10 called the war not worth fighting.
Economy:Nearly 2/3's gave the national economy negative marks.
2008 election:Sen Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, holds the edge in hypothetical match ups with four of the top contenders for the Republican nomination.
Mr Bush:For the fourth consecutive month, the president's approval rating remains at a career low.Thirty-three percent said they approve of the job he is doing, and 64 percent disapprove.
Congress:Approval of the Democratic-controlled Congress' performance is lower than the president's rating, registering 28 percent.
(them weak sister Bluedog Democrats that keep voting with the republicans..them fuckers).I think that I despise Bluedogs more than I do republicans..
What pisses me off about all this..?...we stand around and take it...we bend over, take it and then turn around and say thanks...Where are the protesters?..Where are the picket lines in front of the White House, or the Capital.Where are the giant peace marches?..where the fuck are the leaders from the 60's and 70's who protested?...Siting in their multi-million dollar home and watching it on the news, between the latest news items on Britney,Brad and Angelina and the latest up date on O.J.
fuckme till I march on Washington..

I'm always shocked at how much more attention Britney, Brad and OJ get than important issues that affect people's lives. And I think...shit, those ARE the voters.

It amazes me how in only a short seven years time, he and his cronies managed to completely destroy this country, it's people, the economy, our standing in the world, our reputation, our rights, our constitution, our image, pretty much everything. How we can ever recover is beyond me. Truly...THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER!!!!! Even more amazing is how widely reviled he is in his own country and yet, thanks to our govt. being hijacked by corporate
America, we have no say in anything, most of all his removal.

I'll just be glad when bush is no longer the president. Hopefully he doesn't attack anymore countries between now and then.

The next 10 or 20 years are going to be very interesting. I see America failing, what do you see?

being the richest country doesn't mean much when the top 5% control 90% of the wealth.

i think most of the protesters of the 60's and 70's came from the middle class.

reagan, bush and bush have decimated the middle class, ergo no protesters.

You can stay at my house. I'll drive up to DC with you. I'm sure my Lil Sis will jump in the car on the way so she can sashay in the protest along with us. Sound like a deal?

You need to send me the link to the article you quoted about the poor schools. Ever since NCLB's inception, schools with high rates of low-income kids have had to target those kids with more and more resources because they're the ones that hit the AYP numbers more than once. They're also the same kids whose parents have more power over their success rate than any program out there.

If the parents don't support the idea that education is a way out of poverty, the kids won't respond to interventions and programs TEACHERS are implementing to help them. These interventions are usually on the teachers' personal time and personal dime because the schools with the high percentages of the low-income kids have already LOST funding because NCLB decided that it's more important to PUNISH a poor-performing school than it is to funnel resources into it to help the very kids who need it.

One more thing for my diatribe:
And people wonder why more and more teachers are leaving the profession?

I'll email you later. I've already highjacked this fucking post. I'm fuming right now. I NEED THAT LINK, JAC!

There is no middle class anymore. Most people are too busy working and living hand to mouth to go protesting.
Besides, using 9/11 as an excuse it is very difficult to mount a protest in Washington anymore. It's hard to protest when you are surrounded by cops and half the people with you are undercover cops and Secret Service.
The fatheads who are running this country into the ground are too preoccupied with their own self importants that they don't notice anything going around them.
They also want the kids stupid and poor so they will be easy to convince that whatever they say is the menace is going to destroy their way of life.

Hopefully, the end of the world will come soon so I don't have to live through the times that are ahead. The US Dollar is the weakest it's ever been...for God's sake, Gisele Bundchen wants to get paid IN EUROS OR ANY CURRENCY OTHER THAN THE DOLLAR!!!

Maybe if the public school systems are eliminated like the Repelicans have always wanted, the working poor and middle class will finally wake up and STOP voting Republican. It pisses me off so bad when someone making $12/hour votes Republican, then bitches about not having adequate health care. I don't know what the hell has to happen to get people to wake up.

I can't even talk about it or my blood pressure goes way up. I blame the Religious Right. They are responsible for getting everyone all riled up over gays and abortion. If they hadn't gotten everyone so stirred up, Bush never would have gotten in office again.
