WEST, TEXAS NEWS 6/2/10

Well, the Trojans lost by 2 runs. So they're out of the running..But the Lady Trojans are right in the midst of the playoffs. Play Thursday at 7 p.m. I am going to listen to it on the radio..I'm so pumped.


See my squash?...Guess what? I got a squash off of it. You can't tell, but under neath all them big ole leaves is a bunch of blossoms. I'm so excited. I grew a fucking squash..ha! Take that Martha fucking Stewart.

Look at my basil. Ain't that grand..going to go out tonight when it's cooler and cut some and dry it.

This Saturday is graduation. We have 108 graduating. It will be held at Baylor's Ferrel Center. We used to have it here in West, but some of the kids had 12-20 people coming for it and there was never enough room. So this way everyone can have as many people as they want.

Everyone is all excited about graduation and the fact that the swimming pool is open. Damn we have a great pool. Will go out and take some pictures.

West KC is holding their 47th Annual Picnic this Sunday. Will be a West Czech-style dinner. Which will be friend chicken with country sausage and all the trimmings for $8 a plate for adults and $5 for kids.

Abbot KJZT is planning a hamburger supper at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church parish hall in Abbot.(Willie Nelson's home town)

West Catholic Daughters of the Americas will have their annual Taste of West Luncheon from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. June 8 at St. Mary's Parish Center in West. (which is about a year old and was paid for by the congregation.) The annual event will feature a variety of meats, salads, vegetables, desserts and a drink. Donations for the meal are $6 for adults and $3 for children.

George and Fran Nors are celebrating their 40th Anniversary. Amy Nicole Karlik is engaged to Louis Arnold Hajek and will marry June 19th at St. Mary's.

New baby born..Samuel Ian Louis, weighted in at 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Vernon H. Krueger 78, Julia Machac 101, and Edward Pavlicek 80 all passed away.

Ross Country Store is having a fish fry this Saturday. Tokio Store is having $1.50 long necks on Wednesday. Y'all come!

West Food Mart has pork baby back ribs on sale for $2.99 pound. Dr Pepper is on sale.

Community Grocery has rump roast on sale for $2.29 pound.

WEST,TEXAS NEWS 5/12/10

Holy shit..holy shit...The Lady Trojans beat Vernon, Texas 2 games 7-0, 5-0 to play Gatesville, Texas today for regional quarterfinals...and I just heard..we beat them 4-0..I don't know who they play next. But we are rolling over them..The guys play best of 3 starting tomorrow. They moved the girls game up because of the weather so they might have moved the guys up too. If I hear the score will tell you. I'm so proud of these kids. You'd have to live here (or read my posts on West, to know that baseball is king here. We have some of the best fields for little league, t-ball and softball for any city our size..Better in fact. Plus we have a World Series winner to prove it.

Our Mayfest scheduled for this weekend might be canceled as we are supposed to get rain this weekend. Feck!

Two of the people I voted for city council made it..They elected ole T.R.(wrong initials) again. Older than the back of the Goddess's head and hasn't had an original thought in 30 years..oh well.

Good news is the Bold Springs Baptist Church will be making hamburgers at the Mayfest when ever it's going to be held..hot dang!

This is gong to be a short West post as I have to do 2 posts on the awards I won..which I can't remember what they were and who gave them to me..duh!...

I was going to put a lightener on my hair, you know streaks of light and and lighter ?Well, between Babs and I we couldn't get the hair up through the little holes in the plastic cap with the pick..so I said fuckit..sigh*..never a good sign...and just slapped it all on my hair...now ? I'm a blond...almost white blond..Jenny's going to kick my ass..soon as I get some make up on and a style for my new head of hair I'll show a picture...oh man..it's really blond...When I first saw it the first thing I thought was "I look like that blond monkey in Planet of the Apes."

MERRY FUCKING CHRISTMAS

Bah, fucking humbug!...Ok...there I said it.

It's not even Christmas yet, and I'm already sick of it..think it was a mistake putting the Christmas tree up so early...and having to re wrap all the packages because Annie keeps ripping the paper off them is getting a little old..But the good news is that David came over and put my desk together and now I really feel like a growdup..My dining room table looks nice with my refurnished mismatched chairs..I sorta kinda straightened up the book case that I put up so all the books wouldn't end up on the floor or in boxes in the closet and shed..After I sorted the dining room up, Annie had to come in and smell everything..If I bring anything into the house she has to sniff it..not just a little sniff..she sniffs every square inch of it..If I go to town she has to come out and smell the truck from one end to the other,she's especially fond of the exhaust pipe..It's like she finds out where I went and what I did by sniffed the truck out..she is one weird cat..

Tonight is the winter solstice..the shortest day of the year..Dallas is having a celebration ...They have done this for the last 15 years...I think this is a pretty big deal among the pagan folk..and while I am a pagan..I don't adhere to any brand..It's just me and the Goddess..

We had the apartment complexes Christmas party and Margaret said grace...at the end when everyone said amen..I said 'a woman'...17 gray heads snapped around at me...Sometimes I just can't help myself...I also said "Thank you Goddess."...Margaret laughed..she knows me well enough by now that I just like to fuck with people...When I told her I was so pissed about the Cowboys loss that the only think I posted on my blog was fuckity fuck fuck fuck..she laughed and said:"I would have just said 'oh shoot'..." So far nothing I have said or done has caused her to flinch, raise an eyebrow or act upset over...But guess she didn't get to be 76 without learning a few things.

I have to go to the House of Satan tonight to get all the stuff for Christmas stuff I have to make..I never put things off till the last minute like I have this year...Have to make 2 pecan pies..one for the Christmas party at David and x-wifes house and the one I make every year for the Bratprince's family..I was going to have a 'get together' here at the apt and make mulled wine, apple cider and home made chocolate with home made marshmallows..but the idea of all those people(even though they are my dearest friends and I love them to death) in my house was starting to freak me out..So instead I am going to make the homemade cocoa and marshmallows and put them in little cellophane bags and put in a Christmas mug...and take them along with their gifts..That way they get the cocoa/marshmallows and I have my peace..Plus now I don't have to clean the house again...

Babs will be down Christmas Day and be moved into her apt. by Thursday...How cool is that?...I think we still have some vacancies in case anyone wants to move here also...My selling point is 'it's 1957 here and we like it that way'..

I will do the annual Christmas letters to Santa from the kids in West tomorrow..bad spelling and all...

The Cowboys play Carolina tomorrow night on NFL channel..which means I have to go to a bar to see the game..I may go to the old Capital (now Jack and Diane's) as they have terrific bbq and that might help take the sting out of another loss...nah, all the bbq in the world couldn't help ....sigh*..

The little cartoons are care of Kalibitch, one of my new readers and fast becoming a favorite..you have to check her out..

Going to go finish reading my book..Nancy the new librarian ordered a bunch of new books and I have been reading like a mother fucker...Think I've read 16 books in the past 10 days..Yellowdog and new books...now that's my idea of heaven....

Thought it was time to update you on the haps in West...First of all..there are 70 days till Westfest...labor day weekend..I think(if things work out) my nephew is going to rent a booth at the arts and crafts tent and I will sell his t-shirts..I will have more information on that as they are coming down to take me to a dinner and a movie...hot dang..How much you wanna bet we don't go to Doc's...heehee..

Ok...so this Saturday West is having a squeeze off...According players from across the state will be here for the West Accordion Club's annual "Squeeze off" from 10am to 5pm at the West Community Center which is right next to the Library and .04 of a mile from me..A jam session and open mike session is planned throughout the day with food and drinks available.A swap shop is also planned..John Sulak one of the organizer's says we had over 30 accordionist last year.They come from as far away as Houston, Dallas,Fort Worth,Austin and all over Central Texas...Hooboy...Be still my heart..Ok..so I'm not an accordionists lover but this is a town of Czech's...Polka rules here..After over 30 years I just realized that Westfest is not the official name for it...it's called Westfest Polka Festival...hmm...must have mentally blocked that out..I never came for the music..I came for tent one...tent two...the beer tents..which have evolved to 3 tents now..sigh*..I remember the good old days when I came to party..buy 20-30 pevo tickets..(beer tickets)and drink beer all day long, go home take a nap..come back and drink some more..or take a little snooze in the 'little blue jeep'..

eat sausage on a stick,corn dogs,Frito pies,etc.

My couch makes out into a queen size bed..anyone wanna come?..

West Kiwanis Club and Carter BloodCare have joined together to conduct a blood drive from 2-7pm today..Yeah, have to pass on that..having hepatitis keeps me from donating blood..

St. Mary's Vacation Bible School attracts an estimated 175 kids...It will be entitled Avalanche Ranch:A Wild Adventure Through God's Word ...they have pictures of God as a Buffalo with wings and a bull with wings..God is Strong, God is Tough...yeah buddy...

St. Joseph's in Elk, Texas is having their annual picnic...on the church grounds..will have BBQ, bingo,children's games,a country store,

raffle, wagon rides and because this is Texas..beer will be served along with cold drinks...Church and Beer...don't ya love it..?

We have 2 engagements..2 anniversaries..one for 2 years, one for 50...Aiden Perdichi and Julia Hykel both turned a year old..Raymond Nemecek is celebrating his 96th birthday..I see him all the time..still drives his truck and looks about 70..Four deaths and no births...

Henrietta and I were talking about how the population of the town hasn't changed in at least 10 years...For every baby born 4 die..when kids graduate from school...they leave town..we need an industry...bring some jobs in and keep them here..or at least some of them..

There is a new business in Elm Mott which is 9 miles from here..it's called Gonzos Pinatas and More..They make custom pinatas and have packages of a bounce house, pinatas, tables and chairs..vary from $95 to $160+ tax..wonder if they can make a Bush Pinata?.....hey..maybe I should start making Bush Pinatas and go into business for myself....nah..I'm to lazy..

Eleven West Lady Trojans were named to the All District 12-AAA softball teams..West Senior Jordan Vannata took home top honors as she was selected the district's most valuable player..hot dang..

Blue Bell Ice Cream is on sale at West Food Mart 2 for $8 and at Community Grocery 3 for $11..sigh*

If your interested in moving to West..you can buy a 4-5 br,3 bath or corner lot with lots of extras for $175,000 or how about a 3 bed,2 bath, appliances, ch/ac, electrical,plumbing and flooring all new for $75,000.The Village Bakery is still for sale..

When I first moved back here 14 years ago..you couldn't find a house to rent or one to buy..now every block has houses for sale and at least 5-10 rentals ....There is a housing area with nothing but brick homes..mostly all built since I moved back..so they are almost spanking new..one owner type of houses..huge lots..big yards...fancy smancy..really nice..at least 2-3 houses for sale on each block...make for great yard sales though..

That's the news from West...I may be out of pocket for the next day or so..Taking the computers to get the zombie erased..He's back..

I went back and got a few more albums..not going to buy all of them..the coves aren't in terrific shape..but I got..Jackson Browne Running on Empty,Bruce Springsteen, the Wild the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle,Prime Prine, the Best of John Prine, and Scarecrow by John Cougar Mellencamp.Life is good in West, by Goddess, Texas....come on down...Y'hea?

WEST, BY GODDESS, TEXAS NEWS

It's been a while since I have done a West, Texas news post...so here tis'....

We had 11 inches of rain in the month of March..and 9 inches of it fell in 2 days...It flooded roadways, creeks, and filled up all the tanks..

St.Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption youth participated in a live, drive-through Stations of the Cross last Sunday evening on the Church's parking lot. Aproximately 1,100 people viewed this annual event conducted between 7-8:30pm...

April 11th has been designated as "West Day" and the city is to be honored by the Texas State Legislature.They are sending a delagation of citizens from various organizations and they will be taking 133 dozen kolaches to distribute to the offices in the State Capitol building.This will be the 4th time the city of West has been honored and West kolaches have been designated the Offical Kolache of the Texas Legislature..Personally I think they just do it for the free kolaches...

The Bold Sprin Baptist Church is selling their hamburgers again tomorrow...Jesus wept..I can't have any..and they are the best hamburgers ever..really...sigh*

A Spring Fund-raiser is planned for April 21st at the Fist United Church at 310 Pine. Potato soup, sandwiche with chips and tea are priced at $5. Cool potato soup is also to be sold in jars to go..I don't know why, but this makes me laugh..only West would sell potato soup to raise money..but the Catholic Brother and Sister United and the Knights of Columbus are planning a pancake breakfast from 7-10am on April 22nd at St. Joseph's Hall. All proceeds are to go to Families to Families in Guatemala. These families do not have clean water and $500 will supply a family with clean water...

Ok, I will quit making fun of them..as they really do good things..and I should be ashamed of myself..and if potatoes were not on my can't eat list..I'd go have a jar of soup..

Two engagements..Wilma Johanna Mechell is going to marry John Spaulding, jr. on April 28th at the Church of the Assumption in West.

Jennifer Nicole Perry is going to marry Aaron Neil Martinka on June 23,2007 at St. Martins Catholic Church in Tours.

Amy Michelle Troliinger and Christopher Levi Green were married at the First Baptist Church in China Spring on Feb.3rd..

Tara Nicole Clements and Mathew WEsley Schulze were married on March 3rd, on the campus of Texas A%M at Kingsville, in the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Center..

Patrick Janek turnes 1 year old and so did Dylan Lednicky..

Bernard adn Lucy Pustejovsky will celebrate their 40th Anniversary on April 8th.They were married in West at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in 1967.They are going to have a party to celebrate but so far neither of them can set a date as they are big into farming and can't get away from the fields long enough to do so...

We had 4 deaths...all of them in their 80's...

The Lady Trojans baseball team increase 12-AAA record to 6-0...they are doing some major asskicking..They have 2 more games to go and we expect them to win them both..go big red...

The Trojans win twice in district baseball and they are only half way through the series..

I am still walking with Margaret...but we now have a new member of our walking club....Annie.

She leaves with us and usually makes 2 rounds before she says fuck it and sits at the corner and waits for me to come around the last lap and then she walks home with me..Every one comes out of their apts and watch her walk behind us, meowing all the way..she doesn't like people and when they come out on their porch she will make a big detour to go around them...but she goes with us every day now..she thinks she's a dog..goofy cat..
