WEST, TEXAS POOL
The number one summer destination in West and surrounding towns, including Waco. I remember when they kids used to go it was like $3 to get in..times have sure changed. I want to go ask Jimmy if he'll give senior citizens discounts so maybe the old farts at the retirement apartments will go up there and get some water exercise. I'd go in a flash, but have to be careful about the sun as I blister and my lips swell up like I've had plastic surgery and my eyes swell shut..I think anyone within 100 miles of us, should pack your swimsuit and haul your ass down here for a dip in some nice clear spring water..have yourself a pevo and relax.

Over half a century of cool, wet, family fun! The West Swimming Pool was built in the 1940's by August and Mary Morris Dulak and their son, Edwin. Named the Playdium, after the famous London Palladium, the Baby pool was opened and constructed in June of 1945. August Dulak's Daughter Francis Poteet as a little girl took admission for a Quarter. The large pool was constructed completed in May of 1946. Its cold spring water was an instant hit with the locals and Military families at Connally Air Force Base near Waco. The large building adjacent to the pool was originally used as a roller-skating rink and later as a dance hall.
The West pool has always been known as a great place to beat the heat of a Central Texas summer. Cold, clear water; nearly 1.2 million gallons is supplied by a nearby artesian well that was dug and enclosed in 1910. Prior to the digging of the well, a natural spring flowed from the site, which reportedly was a watering place for cattle drives on the Old Chisholm Trail in the late 1800s. There was a park near the spring where picnics were held.
Edwin Dulak was killed in a military plane crash in 1947. Over the years, August Dulak added some unique features to the pool, including, two concrete "islands", a tilting and spinning "top", and the "trolley," a rope swing riding on a cable strung across the pool. August died in 1970. Mary Dulak and her children and grandchildren continued to manage the Playdium until 1988. It was operated under lease through 1992. Jimbo Kolacek, who continues to operate the pool today and has added sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and other amenities, purchased the pool and well in 1993. After more than 50 years as a destination for family fun, the West Swimming Pool has become a summertime tradition that is passed on from generation to generation. ---Tim Lyons

MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7pvA4EHi08 So you can listen to this...while you go to 701 Tokio Road...at vpike.com...They don't have the apartments on there..but you can take the little man and go up and down the streets and have a virtual tour of West, Texas.. Pizza House of West is 505 W. Oak, but it only shows the North side of the street, so you can see Lou's which used to be the old Pizza House. If you go East on Tokio Road and across the railroad track and take a right you should be able to see the Westfest grounds. Or you can say fuckit and just stay home.

LIFE IS GOOD IN WEST, TEXAS
I have theradio.com on, listening to Steppenwolf and The Magic Carpet Ride. The sun is shinning, it's about 76 degrees and that was even with a small rain shower this morning. Dexter is outside stalking the birds who have figured out he's way to fat to catch them. I have a gigantic pot of Minestrone on the stove cooking away and I've already done my errands for the week. Life is pretty fucking good. Oh, Sonny and Cher's Baby Don't go is on now..sigh*..I miss the 60's. I had blond hair down to my waist, weighed 108 pounds and had the world by the balls. Now my hair is short and red, my waist size has doubled and haven't seen balls in 25 years. But in West, Texas life goes on. Bold Springs Baptist Church is selling hamburgers all day March 11 and the West Trojan Band won Division One ratings in Concert and Sightreading. Have no idea what that means, but every one is very happy about it. Our local elections are scheduled for May 8. I am tempted to run for city council candidate just for the hell of it. The West VFD 17th Annual barbecue cook off is set for March 19,20. I think I will sign up for judging. I heart barbecue. Maybe I can talk Babs into going with me, 'cause she loves BBQ too. Yeah, right.
The grand price is going to be $15,000, made possible by a $5,000 donation from the Czech Stop. As of Tuesday morning there were already 65 teams signed up and that puts them up 10 entries over last year. We live near the Westfest and Rodeo grounds and you can smell BBQ like it was next door when they have the cook off..
The West council is encouraging us to complete the census as it helps ensure us of our fair share of federal dollars..feck!
The best news in the West News is the city of West has signed a five-year lease agreement on the old movie Theatre building. I have been saying this since I came to West over 30 years ago. It could be used for staging musical events, social events, and theatre productions.(Roses are Red My Love by Bobby Vinton)
Dinah Elizabeth Kaska was born on December 11, 2009, weighing in at 8 pounds, 12 ounces and 20.5 inches long. Emily Grayce Wright was born on January 28, 2010 and weighed 7 pound, 15 ounces and 20.5 inches long.
Kiwanis Club Blood Drive is set for March 25 and Babs usually donates blood. West Knights of Columbus is having a fish fry every Friday through Good Friday for $7. (When Will I Be Loved by the Everly Brothers....oh, now Devil with the Blue Dress on by Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels is playing. I am having a great time singing along.)
The lovely smart and beautiful Marissa A. made straight A's and is on the honor role(again).
The West Trojans baseball team is 9-0. They have a great team this year. The Lady Trojans season so far is 15-1..So proud of them. Eight boys and eight girls made the All District 7-AAA basketball squads.
89 nine years ago Joseph F. Janak had his prize-winning Holstein bull Pride Urcy Hartog on exhibition at the Fort Worth Stock Show.
West Food Mart has pork butt on sale for .99 cents a pound. Babs and I like saying pork butt. Community Grocery has Blue Bell Fudge Bars and Crunch Bars on sale for 2 for $5...sigh*
(Neil Diamond's Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show is playing)
If your interested in a change of scenery West has some nice homes for sale. Old fashioned charming 3-bedroom, 2 bath with 1,940 sq. feet, remodeled and updated in 2008 with new roof, new A/C and heat. Looks brand new for $128,900, or country brick home on 14 acres, 3-bedrooms, 2-baths. Very large country kitchen, garden room, enclosed porch, stock tank, carport, separate shop building for $269,000. We have some job openings too for CNA's and all shifts are hiring at Czech Stop. whee..
This Sunday I'm going to Jenny and Jason's and making home made pizzas for them. Hopefully Jamie will be there too. That is their birthday presents. I am getting them pizza pans, cutters, spices etc. and will make some batches of pizza dough for them so when Grandma's not there, they can make their own pizzas. it should be fun.(Can I Get A Witness by Marvin Gaye is on..)
Jenny's is the 18th and Jamie's is the 28th. I can remember like yesterday the day they were born. The were so sweet...and they still are. Jenny's wedding is fast approaching ...eek..and I still don't have a dress. Every time I find something that I like, is the right color(garden colors..pastels...does anyone know how old lady's look in pastels?...not good.)and looks good on me...it is $200. I'm thinking about going to wakko and Joanne's and buy a pattern and material and make my own. I just can't come up with that kind of money for a dress I will wear once. I'd have to wear it every day for 3 years to get my money's worth.(Pleasant Valley Sunday by the Monkees) I keep telling Jenny I'm going to wear my tennie shoes with the dress. Fuck, need to get shoes too. Plus get my hair done. Fuckity fuck fuck fuck. But I'm so excited about it. Jenny has paid for as much as she could so she doesn't have to deal with I'MACUNTTHEDAUGHTERINLAW'....or in her case stepmother. She's getting married on May 29th. April 10 is the bridal shower, plus she's having rehearsal dinner too. More shit for me to buy. (where did our love go..The Supremes)
Well....gotta run you guys..my minestrone is done and I'm so hungry I could eat wolverine assholes. Hope it's sunny and shinny where you are.(blogspot will not download my pictures..)

NOONE UNDERSTANDS THAT I'M FROM WEST, TEXAS

Noone understands that I am from West , Texas is a group on Facebook. If you belong to Facebook, czech them out..It's a bunch of people from West who get to whine that no one understands West, Texas is not West Texas...pretty funny..you can stop by and tell them you know where West, Texas is because of my blog. What's funny is I was on the phone and telling Jenny about it and telling her the names of people on it. She kept saying "Oh I remember her, I punched her out in the sixth grade. Or she was in my Bible Class at the Baptist Church and she said Gays were bad and I punched her in the face." This went on for a couple of minutes and I said 'Damn Jenny, between you and your Granny, we've punched out the entire city of West.
Hmm, maybe Kathy's right...it is all my fault..

ROYCROFT REUNION IN MESQUITE
Before I get started, I have some advice for you cat owners. Don't give your cat fresh catnip and then expect her to play nice. I have scratches all over my hands from Annie's latest attack...I thought it would be fun to get her high on catnip and then throw bird feathers in the air. When your a stoned kitty, you don't know the difference(or care) between fingers and feathers. Also she can jump 2 1/2 feet in the air and still grab you with all 4 paws. Just saying.
Okay...the reunion..Aunt Leola(Wowo.pronounced whoawhoa) had called me back in Sept. and told me the reunion was in Mesquite on Nov. 2nd at my Uncle Hick's house. Even though he is my last living uncle, he is my least favorite..You think I'M OPINIONATED? He makes me look like a monk. He's an asshole..pure and simple and have told him so on many occasions..So I think I accidentally on purpose forgot..So she calls to remind me and because I adore and actually owe her my life and want to see her even if that means putting up with my asshole uncle I wanted to go. Even though if I even head out on I-35 North I get a panic attack, I'm going . Even though the Cowboys are playing the Giants and I'll miss watching the game(no big loss there as it happened) I'm going. Even though the gas is a lot cheaper I don't want to use my gas to go to Mesquite, Texas..I'm going. So..I went..I get on I-35 North and I took a deep breath, I think I let it out at Waxahachie, Texas. Took another deep breath and let it out when I saw my cousin Deborah( I got religion you don't) in uncle Hick's driveway.

When I pulled up and parked and took up 2 spaces she said you park like a woman. I said 'no, I park like Jackiesue, where ever the fuck I want.'...the game was on.
My 85 year old aunt's red Mustang was parked there in all it's fiery glory. Deborah h
ad bought her and her mother one last year. First thing I asked Wowo was 'where's the gun?' She said in the trunk, no it's in the house, I took it out of the car Halloween because I was home alone and wanted to make sure if there were any tricks to be played I was prepared.'...

Like my cousin Billy Jack(he and I were named after the same uncle J
ack, along with our cousin Bruce Jack.)(I'm just glad I wasn't named after Uncle Hick...I'd be Hickey Sue ...eeek!) and his daughter Ginger, who is sooo like me. Loud, funny and profane. Has 2 boys, one who she says is a normal kid and the other has too much Roycroft in him to be anything but crazy. Which I understand perfectly. The Roycroft's aren't exactly what you would call normal by any stretch. I got to meet her husband who is smart, funny and really cute. Plus he and Ginger were voting for Obama. Or as my Uncle Hick called him, 'that black man'. sigh* I love my Aunt Wowo too much to ask her who she was going to vote for...you know what I mean?..They all did have a great laugh over my Born Again Pagan and the My Goddess gave birth to your God bumper stickers. We do have a sense of humor us Roycroft's.

We do have a sense of humor us Roycroft's. Uncle Hick said he had an autographed picture of George Bush the first and his lovely wife Babs and would I like to see it? I said no.............the
n I'd have to poke out both my eyes with a number 2 pencil. The game was going into the ninth inning.
n I'd have to poke out both my eyes with a number 2 pencil. The game was going into the ninth inning.I saw his certificate from the Republican Party for 'all his help'..I said what did you do, stuff ballot boxes?...He then re- mined me of the last time we got together in 2004 after the election when he got to rub it in that Bush had won reelection. I said and do you remember what I said to you Uncle Hick?...fuck you, Uncle Hick. We were going into extra innings, but we called a time out to eat. We had some good grub, chicken, every kind of potato, macaroni, chicken salad you could imagine. Ginger brought her mothers recipe of cabbage and it was absolutely wonderful. I looove cooked cabbage with bacon and onions. Now you have to know that with the exception of Aunt Wowo, Ginger, her mom, Debrah and me, the entire family is obese. My cousin Billy Jack has doubled in girth since I last saw him. He and Uncle Hick both use walkers and scooters to get around. The rest of the cousins are as bad. So every one is diabetic, eating fried chicken, kolaches, ( I brought 3 dozen kolaches), cherry cream cheese, macaroni, potato salad, etc. like it was the last supper. And..now get this...everyone of them has either had or is going to get the by pass surgery. When everyone commented on my weight loss, they asked if I had the surgery. I said nope, I just quit eating carbs and sweets and went back to work for exercise and just watch what I eat. You could have heard a mouse fart...I'm sure THAT never occurred to them
It was great to see all my kinfolk, no matter what they think or say or how they vote. Uncle Hick is my Daddy's brother and he may not have liked them all the time, he always loved them. So in keeping with my Daddy's loving heart I told Uncle Hick that when Obama beat McCain for President, he could call me and say fuck you Jackiesue....Game over...out of the park, with bases loaded.
Finally about 3:30 I decided to head back to West, Aunt Wowo was leaving and Goddess knows I didn't want to stay there with Uncle Hick any longer, as I knew he'd want to have the last word and I was leaving while I still had it.
It took me an hour and 10 minutes to get from West to Mesquite. It took me 3 hours to get back. Well, there was more traffic, but the fact is...I was listening to the Cowboys play absolutely horrible on the radio and I'm yelling and screaming at the radio, banging my head on the steering wheel, to look up and see my turn go by, have to get off, get back on and then I'd do it all over again. I must have missed my turn offs 6 different time, once I got on the road going back to Mesquite and was so into the game didn't notice it until I saw my Uncle's turnoff, and had to turn around and go all the way back. FUCKITY FUCK FUCK FUCK! So it took me 3 hours to drive 90 something miles..But who the fuck cares...I got the last word in on my asshole uncle...Life is good.

WEST, TEXAS 'HAPS

Things are coming along..I finally finished filling 2 large plastic totes(huge suckers)with stuff for Jamie's bridal shower...Holy shit..I bought a lot of stuff...towel sets, spices, condiments, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee maker, can opener, hand mixer, coffee, coffee filters, coffee creamer, a Texas flag, an address/calendar/note book with my address , phone number and email address already in it and on the first note page it says call your grandma..popcorn, bunch of hamburger helpers, cleaning supplies, assorted kitchen tools and hell, I don't know what else..The 2 totes can also be used as laundry baskets when she gets moved in..I got her the Texas flag so she could piss off all the Redskin fans when she gets there..Yup, already I'm starting to stir shit up with them 'skins fans..
I wanted to look good for her party Sunday so I went and bought a top for my new black slacks and a new bra..holy shit...the top is a large.(deep eggplant color)..not 1x or 2x, but a large..and the pants are a size 16..ok, I know that's still big, but when your ass has been shoved into a 2x for years a 16 looks fuckingnear petite..ha..and the bra..oh my Goddess, it's a 48 D....a D...I haven't worn a D cup since I was ..............what ? 11...ha...my tits are so fucking perky...I can damn near rest my chin on them..
So going to go to town tomorrow after I get off work and get some nice shoes to go with it..I don't think my lime green baby phats will go with my new outfit..will take pictures so you can see..I have taken some pictures of West, but I keep forgetting so will try and do them soon...
West paper had some great news...Bold Springs Baptist Church is making hamburgers today and Monday..I didn't get one today and even though I want to I may not get one Monday either..last time I had one it shot my blood sugar up...and it's been so good lately..89-117...
I made another apple/cake cobbler, but this time I did them individually..made them in deep dish pie pan..made 2..and will save the remainder of the cake mix and the can of apples for a later date..Will give Babs one(well less my share..ha) and one to be split between my work and the lady at the other dollar store..Who when I went in Tuesday to get my vitamins said "where's my cookies"...so made her some too. I have been wearing my 'ears'...the listen up hearing device and it works great for when I want to watch video's on computer or movie on my tv..but in the store there are so many different noises that it picks them all up and it's like a disco in my head..Plus the other day the train went by and I screamed bloody murder and jerked them out of my ears..Judas priest..talk about smart...When some one bangs one of the baskets or a kid screams it's like it's right inside my head..and that's freaky..But I can hear the phone ring now..Good news is...Inky still hasn't had anything to drink...the bad news is Anessa stopped smoking and we're all fixing to shove her in front of a train. She's all over Inky like flies on shit, then he comes to work and bitches about her for four hours and I'm about ready to smoke and drink to be able to stand both of them..
We are desperate for rain here..I'm in the process of drying 4 loads of laundry and been walking back and forth and it looks gray out, but the wind is blowing to hard, so it'll just blow it off in another part of Texas.
Some woman(56) was going form Axtel to Leroy the other day and a bull was loose and ran out in front of her car and bye-bye ..killed them both..Really tragic. I sure wouldn't want to be the owner of the bull...I see a lawsuit coming ...Colton Lee Parrish turns 1 year old on April 27th. I had to post his picture..as it's
about as cute as you can get. Oh man..I just read the article that goes with it..it's my loan manager from PointWest Bank, Bernie Klish. Wait til I tell her I put her grandkid on my blog. She'll have a stroke..

Last year at this time we had 36.6 inches of rain. So far we've had 14.4 inches of rain...What a difference a day makes..Was going to post some of the pictures I took, but Babs is still napping so will do them next time..

.......THE BEAR.......
"He's an old blind bear....alone in the winter woods...with only the smell of his breath for comfort. To mean to die, to lost to care. But show some caution....he's still the bear."
I included this poem in a post about the bear a couple of years ago...maybe not that long...But I received an email from some guy saying he was trying to find the poem, that he knew it had been recited by Robert Blake years ago on the Carson Show..and when he googled it..the only thing that came up was my blog..So I sent him the poem about the bear..Which I have always felt could have been written about me...Any how I decided to repeat it for you newbies..It's a good little poem..

Babs is letting me use her digital camera, and I am going around town and take pictures of all the places in town you read about..Community Grocery, West Food Mart, The Family Dollar Store, Campensinos Restaurant, Pizza House, the good bakeries, Caritas, The Hardware Store, etc. Go take some pictures of Wolf's, Strickly Country, Jack and Diane's, etc. Should be fun..
Anessa and her oldest son Donald came by with a watermelon the size of a Buick for me ...said I could share it with Babs...yeah, right..Will call her and let her come and get it..It's half of a half and it fits inside of a double sink..$3...Texas, gotta love it..
Remember the lady that had the free book cases for me?..I got an invite to go to a party out at her house, can camp out listen to music, eats and drinks..But as much as I think it would be fun...driving all the way to Crawford is pushing my luck. Snuck in and snuck out without the Secret Service nailing my ass before , don't want to try it again..
I got my new insurance policy today..it was over $50 higher...huh?..So I called and they took my information down and said they would re-figure it and call me back Monday with a new policy...See if I had just went, oh well they raised my insurance and paid it..I wouldn't have the chance to get it lowered...My mama always told me the squeaky wheel gets oiled first..
I'm going to go to some garage sales tomorrow...what do you think?...More books or what?...fuckme till there's a full moon..

WEST,TEXAS NEWS
I haven't done a West,Texas news update in a while..was going to do the letters to Santa but then I forgot
...But you due for some local news...actually there isn't much going on but we did collect enough toys to give toys to 250 kids. That's 68 families and over 1,500 toys..Last year we collected enough toys for 50 families and 150 kids..so we get better each year..
Our new VFW Club is open and running...they had the opening in November and it is over by the Westfest Parking area so I see it every time I drive to town...Looks like a cracker box in the middle of a tar patch...But eventually they will plant grass and flowers..or at least I hope so..Our new assisted living center is up and running too..I think it has 15 apts..they are pretty pricy, but they are very very nice..
The boy Trojans place 4Th at the Sherman basketball tourney, but the girls won first and move into the
play offs...A West horse won first place at the Los Alamitos Race Course..Leading Spirit, a 4-year old bay gelding owned by Barry Thompson captured first place in the $50,000 First Down Dash Handicap G3.What ever the fuck that is...
West also received over 47 inches of rain during the 2007 year..Which is almost the same amount we received the last 2 years all together..It started out very very wet and then ended up dry..But still had record amounts..No baby's were born this past week..dang..But we had 3 croak on us...Two of them were 90 years old and one was 72...I don't mind when some one dies and their in their 90's..but when some one croaks and is in their early 60's..it makes me antsy..
Don the neighbor that lived behind me died in November..I was talking to his wife and she said he was only 64(he
looked 84) and I said that it made me nervous as he was the same age as me...she said she thought I was in my early 50's..Need to put her in my will...
Lots of jobs in ole West, as Jupe Mills is looking for a receptionist/secretary..full time,401K,paid vacations, holidays, and insurance is available..The Village Bakery is looking for help, plus they are still looking for a buyer..anyone want to buy a Bakery?
West Chamber of Commerce is looking for an Administrative Assistant part-time.Plus the West News is looking for a receptionist/bookkeeper.
If you decide to move to West like Babs did you could buy a house pretty cheap..A 2-s
tory home on over sized, corner lot with 6-7 bedrooms, 3 bath, study with fireplace, large, formal dining room, hardwood floors, upstairs balcony and character in every room has been reduced to $100,000.How about a 3-bedroom,2-bath with office,11 foot ceilings, large backyard, new kitchen, central heat and air for $88,000.Or if your looking for a little land with that house, there is a 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath brick home on 1.97 acres,3-car garage, converted patio, tile and wood flooring, walk-in closets, and built in appliances for only $234,000.
This was a slow week for West as most everyone is still hung over from New Years. When I went to pick up Patsy and Andy from Mynar's Bar New Years night there were cops all over the place..But it was an early night for them because the bars close at midnight during the week so when the new year came in..most people were being escorted out the door and into their cars...I saw the Bratprinces momma and daddy. Edda doesn't drink either and we were thinking about just wandering up and down the streets of West hoping we could be decoys for the cops so the real drunks could make their get away...Like to see the looks on their face when they breathalyzed the 2 of us..Me with no alcohol for 17 years and Edda with no alcohol for 41 years..
Of course Johnny sorta made up for it..and Patsy and Andy were drunker than Cooter Brown.Wonder just who the hell ole Cooter Brown was?...
Well, that's all the news to print...I am disappointed as Bold Springs Baptist Church isn't selling hamburgers this week or next week..I'm jonesing for a Bold Springs Baptist Church hamburger...I'm telling ya..they are nummy delicious..the most perfect hamburger..
fuckme with onions...

.......DAM NEWS.......

This is more of my take on the news...
Wisconsin is now entered into the battle of'home of the
hamburger'..As you might recall Athens, Texas has always been the home of the hamburger..then puny New Haven, Conn(the birth place of George W. Bush)jumped in and said ...oh no..we are the home of the hamburger(carpetbaggers)..and now Seymour, Wisconsin has made it a 3 way race. All three of them claim to be the birthplace of the hamburger..Bullpucky!
In the early 1880's, Fletcher Davis sold "meat sandwiches" at Athens' town square..The other two places didn't start putting out(more than hamburgers I'm sure) till 1885 or later..so there..Let New Haven go back to bragging'(and they would too) about being the hometown of George W. Bush, and Seymour, Wisconsin can go back to being....well....Seymour,Wisconsin as they don't have anything else to brag about..

e is some great news coming out of Oklahoma..
OKLAHOMA IMMIGRANT LAW ON BOOKS
Oklahoma Gov.Brad Henry on Tuesday(last week) signed into law legislation that backers say is the nation's most meaningful attempt to deny jobs and public benefits to illegal immigrants.
GODDESS BLESS OKLAHOMA...
FDA MAY GET MORE POWERFUL..As Senate OK's larger role for agency on drug safety, labels, ads.
Yeah,
that makes me sleep a whole lot better now that the Fox is not only in the hen house..he's on steroids..The Senate voted
93-1 Wednesday (last) to give the Food and Drug Administration new power to police drug safety, order changes in drug labels, regulate advertising and restict the use and distribution of medicines found to pose serious risks to consumers..
Why does that send shivers up and down my spine?
Someone get me a Hamburger..

IT'S OFFICIAL......HELL HAS FROZEN OVER..
FORMER FOES UNITE IN N. IRELAND.
Belfast, Northern Ireland..
Paying tribute Tuesday(last) to the thousands of victims in one of Europe's bloodiest sectarian conflicts, the leaders of Northern Ireland drew a formal line under decades of histility and strife, reestablishing a power-sharing local authority of once implacable foes.
Well, fuckme till shamprocks shoots out my ass..
I hope this is the real deal and the next step is for England to 'step away from Ireland'...That won't happen...but mabye Scotland will step away from England..Think the Scots have their shit together a little better then them Irish boya's do..

AND NOW FOR SOME GOOD NEWS FROM FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS...
It's official here too..The city of Farmers Branch(outside Dallas)..have voted and 2/3's oo the population agreed and it is illegal for apartment managers to rent to illegal's... will be fined up to $500 a day for each day they rent to a family or persons that are not here legally..This has been an on going battle since before last summer...when the Mayor tried to just make it a law..that didn't work so they put it
on the ballot..and the citizens have voted it in..This could be the start of something big..More cities are expected to have similar laws..The people in Farmers Branch said they were tired of waiting for the Government to do something about the illegal alien problem, so they are taking care of it themselves...
YEAH....FARMERS BRANCH....
Last but not least...
TORNADO
REVIVES WORRY OVER NATIONAL GUARD.
War deployments, gear shorfalls concern Congress, governors.
Chicago...As wildfires, floods and tornados batter the nation, the readiness of the National Guard to deal with those disasters, as well as potential terrorist assaults,is so depleted by deployments to foreign wars and equipment shortfalls that Congress may act.(excuse me..but...it's about fucking time...hurry the fuck up...)
Lawmakers are considering curtailing the president's powers over the Guard and requiring the Defense Department to analyze how prepared the country is for domestic emergencies.
The debate over the state of the National Guard has been intensifying for several years, but a powerful toranado in Kansas this month has spun the popic back into the spotlight.
When the small farming community of Greensburg was effectively wiped off the map, leaving 11 people in the area dead and miles of rubble to be searched and cleared, Kansas Gov.Kathleen Sebelius was direct in her explanation for why the response had not been faster. The policies of the federal government, she said, had left the Kansas National Guard understaffed and underequipped.
Gov. Sebelius' comments infuriated the Bush Administration, which countered that the vast majority of her state's Guard members were available to be called up and that she would be provided any equipment she lackes as soon as she requested it.
The bitter exchange represented a debate familar to governors across the U.S., many whom have feared and predicted that a castrophe could find their National Guard units woefully hard-pressed to react to mass casualities or chaos after four years in Iraq.
The other hot-button issue between the governors adn the president regarding the National Guard involves the Insurrection Act, the law that governs when the National Guard can be "federalized"for domestic law enforcement without consent of a governor.
A 2006 revision to the act expanded the president's power to assume control of the Guard during domestic events, which governors say threatens to derail state disaster planning and response.Sens.Patrick Leahy,D.Vt.,and Kit Bond, R.Mo.,co-chairs of the Senate National Guard Caucus, introduced a bill to repeal the changes..
Write them...write them many letters telling them to vote it in and bring our boys home..
(the Chicago Tribune/The Associated Pres contributed to this report.)
ok,I'm crawling down off my soap box...sigh*
think it's time for a nap..

WEST, BY GODDESS, TEXAS NEWS

It's been a while since I have done a West, Texas news post...so here tis'....
We had 11 inches of rain in the month of March..and 9 inches of it fell in 2 days...It flooded roadways, creeks, and filled up all the tanks..
St.Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption youth participated in a live, drive-through Stations of the Cross last Sunday evening on the Church's parking lot. Aproximately 1,100 people viewed this annual event conducted between 7-8:30pm...
April 11th has been designated as "West Day" and the city is to be honored by the Texas State Legislature. They are sending a delagation of citizens from various organizations and they will be taking 133 dozen kolaches to distribute to the offices in the State Capitol building. This will be the 4th time the city of West has been honored and West kolaches have been designated the Offical Kolache of the Texas Legislature..Personally I think they just do it for the free kolaches...
The Bold Sprin Baptist Church is selling their hamburgers again tomorrow...Jesus wept..I can't have any..and they are the best hamburgers ever..really...sigh*
A Spring Fund-raiser is planned for April 21st at the Fist United Church at 310 Pine. Potato soup, sandwiche with chips and tea are priced at $5. Cool potato soup is also to be sold in jars to go..I don't know why, but this makes me laugh..only West would sell potato soup to raise money.
.but the Catholic Brother and Sister United and the Knights of Columbus are planning a pancake breakfast from 7-10am on April 22nd at St. Joseph's Hall. All proceeds are to go to Families to Families in Guatemala. These families do not have clean water and $500 will supply a family with clean water...

All proceeds are to go to Families to Families in Guatemala. These families do not have clean water and $500 will supply a family with clean water...Ok, I will quit making fun of them..as they really do good things..and I should be ashamed of myself..and if potatoes were not on my can't eat list..I'd go have a jar of soup..
Two engagements..Wilma Johanna Mechell is going to marry John Spaulding, jr. on April 28th at the Church of the Assumption in West.
Jennifer Nicole Perry is going to marry Aaron Neil Martinka on June 23,2007 at St. Martins Catholic Church in Tours.
Amy Michelle Troliinger and Christopher Levi Green were married at the First Baptist Church in China Spring on Feb.3rd..
Tara Nicole Clements and Mathew WEsley Schulze were married on March 3rd, on the campus of Texas A%M at Kingsville, in the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Center..
Patrick Janek turnes 1 year old and so did Dylan Lednicky..
Bernard adn Lucy Pustejovsky will celebrate their 40th Anniversary on April 8th.They were married in West at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in 1967.They are going to have a party to celebrate but so far neither of them can set a date as they are big into farming and can't get away from the fields long enough to do so...
We had 4 deaths...all of them in their 80's...
The Lady T
rojans baseball team increase 12-AAA record to 6-0...they are doing some major asskicking..They have 2 more games to go and we expect them to win them both..go big red...
rojans baseball team increase 12-AAA record to 6-0...they are doing some major asskicking..They have 2 more games to go and we expect them to win them both..go big red...The Trojans win twice in district baseball and they are only half way through the series..
If you're looking for a nice summer home you can get a 3bedroom,2.5 baths, workshop, barn, stock tank, trees and more on 3.7 acres and no dusty roads to drive all for the great price of $99,900.
As you can see, it's another typical week in West..Last week we had some drug busts, but all but one were from out of town...don't know why they think it's ok, to come to West to buy or sell drugs, but our police nabbed them..They were at the Czech Inn and the manager of the Inn thought they were up to something and called the cops on them...hahahahah...BUSTED...
I am still walking with Margaret...but we now have a new member of our walking club....Annie.
She leaves with us and usually makes 2 rounds before she says fuck it and sits at the corner and waits for me to come around the last lap and then she walks home with me..Every one comes out of their apts and watch her walk behind us, meowing all the way..she doesn't like people and when they come out on their porch she will make a big detour to go around them...but she goes with us every day now..she thinks she's a dog..goofy cat..
That's all the news fit to print from West, Texas...as you can see...it's still 1957 ..

JACK RABBIT MAKING LOVE TO A SKUNK:
"I haven't had all I want.....but I had all I could stand."
Hotdang....it's raining in Texas..A LOT of rain in Texas
It is either dry ........or gully washers...I like gully washers...I had some running around today then on the way back was going to stop by the library and check in and check out some books...Since it was dark and raining like a sonsabitch I had the lights on...yup, you're right..forgot to turn them off...do all my running around..grocery, $1 store, video store, drug store, then the library....While I was in library one of the ladies in there said.."You know you left your lights on?"...argh fuck...so of course when I go to leave..truck won't start...had to call Patsy from Community Grocery to come give me a jump...she sent her son-in-law instead.
So by the time I got home I was soaked to my skin as it was really coming down out there..and still is for that matter...But we need the rain..badly..or goodly..
Tomorrow is Jamie's 18th birthday...I am going to try and round her up so I can go take her birthday gift and see her new apartment. But hate to call her..when I call there's some rap song that plays for about 3 minutes and I ususally say fuckit and hang up...hope she will see it's me and call back...
I have had to cut back on my laps with Margaret..the new cholesterol medicine gives me leg cramps really bad and I already have leg cramps and with the walking it is making me miserable..up all flapping night long about 3 nights in a row..so when she came by Saturday I told her I would only be doing it for 5 days a week and 3 laps at a time and explained why...I swear when she walked off she snickered and made a series of arm pumpings...old bitch..
This is a absolutely nothing of a post..too lazy to actually do a real post and not a thing going on in my life now to post about ..so this is as good as it gets..
Hopefully I will have a better post tomorrow..found some amusing things in the DAM news...so...signing off for now...
fuckme till I'm interesting...
