OK...find Houston, Galveston, that's where Ike and Tina hit. Then look toward the center of the state and find Mclennan County..right above it is Hill County, West is about 10 miles in from the end of Hill where it meets Mclennanm where the little tip is of Mclennan. So even though I'm looking out my window a the birds getting whipped around by the wind and rain, they are still finding it easy to get food from the feeders..We're safe...should get hit by it later on this afternoon, but I don't think it's going to be as bad as we thought and we really do need the rain.

So no trip to Oz for you and Babs. It's just as well I guess, they might not have high speed internet there.
I guess we won't see Jackiesue doing the breast stroke through the center of West any time soon.
Now all you have to do is keep your fancy shoes dry.
I was wondering where exactly West was.
Happy to hear it's not as bad as you thought.
Now is the timwe to hunker down with some hot chocolate and a good book. :)
Good that you're safe. But why in the hell is Houston in Harris County and not Houston County?
So glad to hear you're ok! :)
Glad you didn't get flooded. I use to live in Medina, Tx when I was a wee lad.
Here's one praying you are safe and stay that way.
today, west, which is east, is west
Well, that is one cool map. Glad you might dodge the bullet. Sweet.
wonder why the call it west. It doesn't seem to west. Well atleast you still have power so you can watch football tomorrow.
Glad to hear Ike didn't smack you too hard. One of my girls is in Nacogdoches and refused to leave...she might be regretting that decision! They lost power yesterday morning...don't think they've got it back yet! Ah well, she's 21.....!
Hey, look up up up on that thar map, now go west, oops, down a little...see that Parmer County on the NM line? That's where I be. 22 miles from Clovis, NM. Figured out how to keep Texas beautiful. Chop off the Panhandle and give half to NM and Half to OK! Rest of the state is green! LOL...I kid, I kid...
That is one fuckin huge state. It would swallow New Jersey, Maryland, and Connecticut for hors d'oeuvres and then eat Michigan and have Rhode Island for dessert.
I've always loved the precise layout of the Texas counties. Is it true that each is the distance that could be ridden in a day? Or is that just a myth?
nitwit:i don't have to do the breast stroke..my tits are big enough to do it on their own..
sling:i hunkered down and read 'The Shack'..which is a good book to read if you want to think about God and who God is and what God wants us to be...very interesting..too bad the guy can't write for shit.
wendy:harris county was named after John Richarson Harris, who was in Texas long time before Houston was..plus there are many many things named after Houston..
bigpissy:figure you guys should get some rain out of it too.
tex:see, i knew you were a texan at heart.
ted:thanks sweety, i can use all the prayers you can send.
unokhan:acutually west is central.
or as we like to say deep in the Heart of Texas.
tsduff:im always amazed when I look at the map of texas...we're huuuuuge.
sage:west, texas was named after the guy that founded the town West, forget his first name..and then the Czech's came, along with some Germans and took over the town.
robin:you life by one of my oldest friends..he and his wife live in clovis.
new mexico wouldn't have anything to do with any part of texas..they hate us ... alot.
anne:it makes for a days travel just to get from one end to the other.
