HEART OF TEXAS SNAKE HANDLERS (3)

I've kisses some assholes before(so to speak) but I don't think I'd like to kiss that cobra on it's head or any other part of his body.
He's trying to make it 'hood up' so he can distract him with his hand and then kiss him..I know I know..who would do this?...

This is the Cobra all long and loose and ready to hood up..

Everybody has a boa and they haul them out so the kids can have their pictures taken with them. Some of the kids were like' sure I'll touch it or they ran screaming back to mama.'

Can you imagine?..Just wandering around bullshitting and a cobra is all coiled and hooded up to strike..sigh*

The snakes will all congregate in the corners and pile up on each other and occasionally one will get bit and die. Which is my idea of an ideal rattler.

They are just holding him up so he'll hood up and look good for the crowd. They do about 4-6 shows a day depending on the crowds..and there are always crowds..Kids every where.
If you look close at the walls of the pit the kids are pressed right up against the plexi-glass so they can get up close and personal with the snakes.

The only snake-related event we have in Canada is in the Spring when people flock to Narcisse, Manitoba to see the big (natural) snake pits full of garter snakes. Nobody touches them though. They just gawk at the huge, writhing ball of snakes in each pit. Pretty harmless by comparison to your Rattler Roundup!

I once walked up on a Hog Nosed Snake and it went into attack mode.
He was about 4' long and if you didn't know they hood up and look just like a Cobra. They are not poisonous but the will strike. This was the first one I ever saw and I didn't know what it was so I caught it and took it home. Shoulda heard my mother scream. I didn't think she could run that fast.
I was a bad kid.
About 1 year before I caught another snake. This one had a pretty white mouth. I guess that's why he was called a Cotton Mouth.
I didn't show that one to dear old Mom. She was 6 months pregnant at the time.
I was bad but not stupid.
The Cotton Mouth was at Blythville by the way. Not sure I spelled that right after all this time.
I also had a Bullfrog the size of a full grown cat when I was there too.

Although it's great that there is more people who are snake handlers, it is always good to be safe by taking a snake handling courseso that you know what you're doing.
